I was basing that off the most current contract at that time, the D Will 40+mil 5 yr contract. I'd also point out that Gore has a bad injury history(been in the league going on 6 years and has only had one season w/16 starts).
So age and injury's are keeping Gore from making the big dollar. It's also a 3 year deal; not a 5 year that Forte will bel ooking for. Forte has been in the league 3 years, and never missed a game. He's should expect/and probably will get a better contract.

I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Can't think of anyone of hand mo but aside from those guys who have we had that deserved one? With the exception of Kreutz and Garza most of our Olineman either sucked or were disposable after a few years. Same thing at the skill positions. Cutler is the first QB we've has in 25 years who we can build around and Forte offers us much the same at RB.
Anyway you look at it though it's tough to go farther out than 2015 with him. That's five seasons including this one and he's 29 years old when the deal finishes. By that time we should the next guy waiting in line if we draft smart. A deal worth around $30 mil with 50%-60% guaranteed should be acceptable to both parties IMO.
