Marcus Harrison could not pass his physical at the start of training camp for the Chicago Bears because he was out of shape.
Harrison's fresh start elsewhere was derailed Monday when the Carolina Panthers rejected him after he failed their physical because of a questionable knee.
The Panthers had placed a waiver claim for Harrison after he was let go in final cuts on Saturday. But a knee that was an issue before the Bears drafted him in the third round in 2008 from Arkansas didn't pass the test of Carolina's doctors and medical personnel.
It's possible Harrison will find a team that will pass him. The Cleveland Browns also put in a waiver claim for Harrison, but the Panthers sit atop the waiver wire because of their finish from last season.
Harrison could potentially come back to the Bears and maintain that he was injured when they released him. Harrison passed a physical to begin training camp after five days, and teams cannot just dump players who are injured.
But it's important to note that the 32 NFL teams will view medical situations differently.
