Ted Ginn, Jr. Runs Back Two Touchdowns Within 59 Seconds For 49ers Vs. Seahawks
by Tom Ziller
Ted Ginn, Jr. put away the Seattle Seahawks in the back half of the fourth quarter by ripping off two returns for touchdowns within 59 seconds as the San Francisco 49ers took a 33-17 win over their NFC West rivals.
San Francisco's offense struggled much of the game, with the Niners settling for one touchdown and four David Akers field goals in mounting a 19-10 lead with six minutes left in the fourth. The Seahawks struck quickly, with Tavaris Jackson hitting Doug Baldwin with a 55-yard touchdown throw to get the score to 19-17. Rookie head coach Jim Harbaugh's relatively conservative playcalling surely had Niners' fans sweating, as San Francisco had amassed just 211 total yards.
But Ginn made the offensive struggles irrelevant. After the Seattle TD, Ginn outrun the coverage with raw speed up the right sideline to tally a 102-yard touchdown. After the Seahawks went three-and-out, Ginn did it again, taking a punt 55 yards after bobbling the ball upon reception.
The two scores give Ginn three career kick return touchdowns and three career punt return touchdowns.
