Redskins Trade the Farm for Rams #2 Pick
ST. LOUIS -- The Rams have reportedly agreed to trade the No. 2 overall pick in this year's NFL draft to the Redskins, according to FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer.
The deal can't become official until Tuesday afternoon when the new league year begins, but media reports say the deal has been agreed upon. ESPN reports the Redskins would get three first-round draft picks and a second-round selection. The Rams would receive Washington's No. 6 overall pick as well as first-rounders in 2013 and 2014. St. Louis would also obtain Washington's second-round pick this year.
It's widely speculated that the Indianapolis Colts will take Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick, and the second selection by Washington will most likely be Baylor QB Robert Griffin III.
The move was reportedly made by Washington because Peyton Manning, who was released by the Colts earlier this week, doesn't want to play for the Redskins.
The Redskins muddled through the 2011 season with Rex Grossman and John Beck seeing action under center. Grossman threw for 3,151 yards and 16 touchdowns in 13 games. Beck completed 60.6 percent of his passes for 858 yards and two scores, but Washington averaged 18 points a game, seventh-worst in the NFL.
Griffin, the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner, passed for 4,293 yards and 37 touchdowns against just six interceptions this past season. He also rushed for 699 yards and 10 scores.
The Rams likely traded the pick because they are committed to Sam Bradford as their starting QB as the Oklahoma product enters his third NFL season.

I hope that whatever QB the Redskins get is worth all of those picks. Wow. I can't help but be reminded of the Super Bowl dynasty the Minnesota Vikings built in Dallas with the Herschel Walker trade!

Really? Seems to me that Graziano had his pen at the ready to analyze the move.
Redskins pay high price to get their QB - NFC East Blog - ESPN
Not to mention the fact that Cutler had already played in Denver for several seasons so everyone KNEW who he was BEFORE he was traded. The Redskins traded for a potential franchise QB while the Bears traded for a solid, skilled QB but a douche nonetheless. There are plenty of unknowns regarding RG3 and his potential is what has football people excited. He could be a HUGE bust. Everyone knew what Cutler was when he was traded. To pay what the Bears paid for Cutler is indeed questionable. We won't know if RG3 was worth the price the Redskins are paying for at least 3 or 4 years.

Any way you want to cut it, this was far too expensive. It really makes me wonder how Snyder became successful.

Are there ANY Heisman winning QB's who successfully turned that into a career in the NFL that resulted in a championship ring?
One that I can think off... Staubach. Anybody else?

The Washington Redskins have agreed to trade their 2012 first-round pick, a 2012 second-round pick and two future first-round picks for the St. Louis Rams' No. 2 overall selection in the upcoming NFL Draft, according to FoxSports.com's Jay Glazer.
The deal would give the Rams: Washington's No. 6 overall pick and the No. 39 overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. The Rams also own the No. 33 overall pick.
Washington is expected to take Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III with the second pick.
