Denver Broncos CB Tracy Porter signs with Broncos

NFL.com news: Denver's Manning, Porter etched in Super Bowl lore

Denver's Manning, Porter etched in Super Bowl lore

Peyton Manning has a long list of names to memorize in Denver's locker room, but one of his new teammates requires no introduction.
That's because Tracy Porter, the former Saints cornerback who signed a one-year deal with the Broncos on Thursday, has haunted Manning's dreams for the last 776 days.
Porter remains Public Enemy No. 1 in the state of Indiana after his fourth-quarter, 74-yard interception return of a Manning pass basically signed, sealed and delivered a Saints' victory in Super Bowl XLIV.
Had things been different, had Porter arrived a second later on the pass intended for Reggie Wayne, maybe Peyton's legacy in the playoffs, today, doesn't rank second to his younger brother, Eli.

The Broncos aren't preoccupied with old grudges. John Elway and Co. can't possibly top the Manning signing, but the addition of Porter gives Denver a proven starter and a gritty cover man just entering the prime of his career. Good news for a pass defense that ranked 18th in the league last season.
Porter will compete with Andre Goodman at right corner across from some guy named Champ Bailey, and if the former Saint can recapture some of that playoff magic from 2010, you can bet Manning will bury the hatchet.
Dammit! And there goes another DB who would have been a starter on our roster. -_-

I agree, would have been awesome to add to our team this year. No worries though we got a solid team this year if healthy.

At $4 mil for one year we wouldn't have pursued him anyway. That's the main reason why we haven't gone after any of the FA CB's. They been getting $4-$5 mil per year deals and we won't pay that much for a Cover-2 corner. That's most likely why we didn't sign Hayden either.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.
