Well if that's the case, you must regularly hate the Bears draft classes.
Sherrod wasn't drafted to be the starter. We had Clifton so he had time to sit back and learn. He was thrown in the fire and wasn't ready, he needs to bulk up like Bulaga did after his rookie season.
Cobb did more than just special teams, he also made some very nice catches and saw quite a bit of snaps during the season.
Alex Green had 3 carries on a team that barely runs......surprise?
House couldn't crack the lineup that featured Charles Woodson, Tramon Williams and Sam Shields who all were coming off of good seasons before last seasons debacle. Our issue was primarily pass rush, not coverage.
Draft grades are worthless anyway, you can't judge a draft class until 4-5 seasons down the road.
Sherrod looks like a dud. I'm glad the Bears didn't fool around with him.
You're pass coverage was terrible last season. Talk about a defense that gave up one big play after the next.
And I agree that you need to wait a few years before assessing a team's draft. I think the Bears 2011 draft is going to be one of their best in some time, when we look back on it in 3 years. The Packers better wake up and smell the coffee though because the Bears have upgraded this pass rush and have armed Cutler.
That's a good looking draft. Perry may well have been a Bears pick if not for McClellin and there I think we scooped the Pack and got the better of the two but Perry is no bum. After that they had a strong draft.
Worthy or Reyes were guys I would have loved to see us take in two. Jeffery was also a strong pick for us and filled a need as far as really pushing the offense over the top passing wise but I gotta say the Pack got a very good DT there. Hayward was another good pick for them and if the tables had been turned and we had an extra 2nd round pick we may have gone after him as well. The Bears have had good luck with Vandy players (Hilly, Cutler, CWill, DJ Moore, Bennett) so the Pack must be following suit. They took Hilly out of Vandy years ago and we picked him up when they released him.
I like the Daniels pick too. Iowa turns out very good lineman on both sides of the ball and although Daniels may never be an all-pro he's certainly got the potential to be a productive guy like Toe has been for us. After that I'm not really familiar with the rest except for Datko and I know he was falling faster than a meteor leading up to the draft but is certainly worth a 7th round flyer just as Brown was worth an UDFA contract for us. Both guys who have skills to develop.
When you look at the entire preseason, draft included, I believe we gained some ground on them offensively and they gained some ground defensively where they needed to. Gonna make for some great matchups this year. Between us I'd say both teams have an equal shot at a ring.
I'm getting to that age where a lifetime warranty just doesn't mean as much to me anymore as an afternoon nap.

Haven't seen you in a bit Evernight. How ya' doin' so far this spring?
Nice draft. Great second round and I think Daniels was a nice pick up in four as well.
How do Packer fans view the Perry vs McClellin thing? I know they wanted him badly as did the Pats. I guess when the Pats jumped into Cincy's spot it became a moot point anyway. Even if he got by the Bears he wasn't gonna get by NE. Perry looks like a real good pick but I think McClellin is more of a pass rushing maniac like Matthews. Tough to stop no matter who you put on him.
I will tell you this my friend. When I saw McClellin mocked to the Pack I did a little reading up on him and watched his game vids. All I could say was, "aw fvck", "you mean they're gonna have Matthews coming from one end and McClellin from the other......damn." How do those guys always luck into these players so late in the first round?"
I breathed a sigh of relief when we took him. He's a guy I would not want to be playing against. Smaller guy who can play with a low pad level like he does are miserable to block. I've watched a 5'11" 250lb Elvis Dumervil eat OT's alive here in Denver.
Should be a great year with some great matchups.

After seeing what you guys thoughts about their good draft.. (again?...) a part of me wonders if the Packers ever will finnish 3-4th in our division... Why God... Let them turn out to be burst.. (Think that's the right word for a bad drafted player?)
But they wanted McClellin really bad... so we took him... so hopefully he turns out to be a monster gorilla vanilla.. <-- There you go Dags new nick..
Perhaps we should sneak into their rooms where they say who they want.. And pick them! Nah

Nah I still have faith into Emery untill he makes J.A. drafts, or all our new draft players turns out to bursts...
Bear down!

It's far too early to call Sherrod a dud. Bulaga didn't look that great his rookie season either.
Our pass coverage was terrible yes, but a large chunk of that was because the QB had 8 years to throw the ball as only CM3 seemed to be capable of getting to the QB or getting pressure. Hence we went out and drafted heavily for blitzers and d-line help.
We'll wake up and smell the coffee when you upgrade that POS offensive line you have protecting your franchise.

That still irks me. He basically just got lost in the shuffle as we had some pretty good linebackers at that time and he ended up being the odd man out unfortunately.

As far as I've seen it's split for the most part. There were a lot of people who wanted McClellin and a lot who wanted Perry/some other player. I don't think we could have gone wrong with either of them honestly. There were quite a few players worthy of selection at that point.
We luck into these players because the rest of the teams don't do their homework the way Ted does.
Our matchups are usually great, and both teams could be 0-16 and the fans would still be just as fired up for them to beat the snot out of each other. There is no rivalry in all of sports that rivals the Packers vs. Bears.

We finished third in 2008, but we've only finished below second twice since 2000, and only one of those two times we finished last.

I'm surprised that with the ties the McCaskey family has with the Chicago mob, that they haven't put a hit out on Rodgers.
