your oline isnt exactly good either...............sometimes improving the weapons softens that blow. I agree Bears should have invested in the oline but I still think they can make it work. Lions and Packers made it work with their craptastic olines last season. Only difference is we are the only ones with a running game. Now I think Bears have finally caught up with some damn worthwhile wrs for the qb to utilize.Quote:

Not adding personnel high in the draft doesn't mean nothing has changed. We lost two 1st round picks, a former and a current, to injuries and both were playing well before that happened. Those two return this year. One at RT and the other challenging for LT which was manned by a first year guy at LT last year. He stunk and if he still stinks this year then Williams will take his place. We signed a kid after the draft who was rated a mid round pick and we brought a guy from SF who failed there but was once a high second round pick. Spencer, another former first round pick was brought in to play OC last year and ended up at RG for the first time. Given a years experience and a full training camp it's probably safe to say he'll improve as an OG.Quote:

Other than that we had a RG playing RT a RG playing OC and an OC playing RG and then Webb and another guy with no starting experience playingLT and LG after CWill went. It was a cluster fuck plain and simple yet had Cutler stayed healthy we would have seen the playoffs just like we did the year before with essentially the same guys.
Those guys did well in run blocking, even Webb, but failed the grade in pass protection. Why? Is it possible that Martz contributed with his insistence on running that offense his way with it's 7 step drops that no one uses anymore at all? Have you seen that stats over the years on how often QB are sacked in a Mike Martz offense? I have and avoiding sacks isn't one of it's strong points.
One other thing that seems to slip peoples minds is that after Cutler told Martz to go fuck himself and started running that offense his way we won five straight games, scored over 30 points in all but one of them and Cutler sacked a grand total of five times in five games. I'd say that provides at least some confirmation that much of the problem came from operating in that offense.
Tice is not the savior but he's a damn sight better than allowing Martz to stay around. Besides the guy who'll make the biggest difference on Tice's coaching staff is Jeremy Bates. With Cutler and Marshall, a very average to poor Oline and virtually no running game he put together one hell of a passing game out here and he has better talent to work with now. Bates is the guy who'll be the real difference maker not Tice. We wanted him as an OC before Martz was hired but he went to Seattle instead.
If Tice allows Bates to run the same basic offensive concepts he ran in Denver which included a lot of play action and boots. That alone will put less pressure on the line. It's no different than the way Aaron Rodgers has been surviving these last few years behind a very mediocre Oline.
You can't fix all the holes at once and for once we have the QB and Receivers to mount a first class passing attack to go with a very very good running game. Fuck this can't throw to his receivers when he's lying of his back horseshit. In this offense he won't be. I'll guarantee it. I'd say there will be at least two more positions that won't have any question marks around them after this season is over. The rest can deal with next year.
That game was filled with uncharacteristic errors by the entire team. Excessive dropped passes, lots of fumbles by guys who hadn't fumbled at all, no defense, etc. There were lots of problems in that game, and offensive line doesn't even make the top 5.Quote:
