    Here's a Familiar Story................

At least it's not us this year and it's kinda nice to know that we're the reason they're without one. Payback for that loss in 85.

Matt Moore: Dolphins OK without true No. 1 WR

The first major transaction the Miami Dolphins made after hiring head coach Joe Philbin was to turn Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall and his 167 receptions for 2,228 yards and nine touchdowns the previous two seasons into a pair of third-round picks over the next two drafts. Though Legedu Naanee would be added in free agency, and a pair of receivers were selected in the final two rounds of the draft, the Dolphins are still without a true No. 1 receiver.

According to quarterback Matt Moore, that won't be a problem as Philbin's offensive system negates the need for a "go-to" guy, reports Brian Biggane of the Palm Beach Post.

"There's always in the past been a go-to target on every play," Moore said. "But in this offense you can have Hartline lined up as the No. 3 receiver on one play and No. 1 on the next play. And it can be the same play. So you're not pigeon-holed into anything on any certain play.

"You can go full-field progressions and there's no pressure to get the ball to any one specific guy. So you can just go back there and wing it."

Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, Naanee and 2011 fourth-round pick Clyde Gates are expected to man the top four receiving spots on the roster, but a system that does not funnel the passing offense through one player should breed competition in training camp and the preseason. A player like Marlon Moore or undrafted free agent Jeff Fuller, who played with first-round quarterback Ryan Tannehill and for offensive coordinator Mike Sherman at Texas A&M, can flash and earn a roster spot.

"From where I look at it we look pretty good," Moore said of the receiving corps. "We've got guys on the outside, some are good at shorter or intermediate routes. We've got some deep threats coming along, guys like Clyde Gates and Marlon Moore. And our tight ends are solid."

What does it feel like to not have one? I don't think we've been missing one since......I can't even remember.

It feels just like it feels in Miami where the QB and HC and probably the OC are blowing smoke up everybody's ass about how they'll do just as well spreading the ball around. That's a great concept and I hope it works for them but I'll take Marshall.

We're gonna have a bit more for your defense to contend with this year brother. Not just one "aircraft carrier" but two plus Bennett and Hester. I really don't how to deal with it. You can't remember when you didn't have stable full of good receivers and I can't remember the Bears ever having one period.

I'm sorry sir, but you lost me at "and Hester".

Every year it's "Hester will be good this year" and it ends with "yeah..........he did alright......he.........caught a pass......."

A tad early to label Marshall the end all be all when he has yet to take a snap in a game for the Bears, don't you think? You do have a long history of having OCs that have no fucking clue what they're doing after all. Granted he can't possibly be worse than Hester, but still.

Marshall is an established player who has already worked with Cutler. Its like riding a bike. Its ok though. I know you're nervous that GB has lost that edge on offense.

Sorry, one player isn't going to put Chicago on par with Green Bay's offense, especially with that offensive line. The only position you have that's superior is halfback, and that's not worth a whole lot in this day and age.

We've already seen how GB's offense can be made ineffective. You're living in the past skippy. The Bears have an offense that can put up points like the best of them now.

Yeah, our players fumbling the ball away in a fluke game definitely makes us ineffective. Our offense stopped itself more than anything. We had the #1 offense in the NFL last season, that's not likely to change much this season.

Yes, #1 thanks to Aaron Rodgers. Just imagine how Jennings' and Driver's numbers would look like without Rodgers throwing the ball. GB's receiving corp isn't that good. You guys are just lucky to have one of the best quarterbacks in the league.

The 70's and 80's???? Long time ago, yes, but I can still remember.
