Not w/Paying Cutler/Urlacher/Forte/Marshal.
I know he'll be a high price tag, but if a restructured deal with Hester could happen and if we could afford to part with Tillman(blasphemy, i know, but that dude is GOOD and Peppers ain't gonna play at this level forever), it would make sense. (I only mean if McClellan is Michael Haynes bad)
You never know. Things are so unpredictable with Emery. Who knows who might be coming in and going out. Emery is the real man of mystery.
Henry I don't think we need him or his attitude and we sure don't want to have to write paychecks for as much he wants them to be. He's a very good but not great undersized pass rusher and my guess is that Shea McClellin will turn out to be a better ball player and not even half the pain in the ass Avril might be.
It was pretty obvious when Detroit gave "Megatron" the deal they did that it was gonna hurt them both cap wise and by blowing their salary scale all out of proportion and it has. Avril is looking for a deal that averages more than $10 mil per year, the Lions can't afford it and that's too rich for our blood anyway.
As usual Detroit has their usual shitload of problems ranging from this to all of the offseason trouble players got into to trying to find a starting RB who can play 16 games a year and lead their running attack. I think you can add to that the fact that their coach is as big a mad man as some of his players.
I'm not real worried about the Lions getting in our way this year. Just the Pack.
Good points, soul. Now if we somehow need a wr that just got arrested for beating his mother, and is facing a sudpension, and likely (in my mind cause JJ called him out BEFORE that) cut next year, why not Dez Bryant who will NOT be getting a big payheck next time around due to his inability to be a no. 1 wr, but is still talented? If all that is correct, he'd be great on ST and could be a great no. 3, on a one year deal..
Yeah I'm sure glad we haven't had any serious off field issues with any of our guys this year. The Marshall thing proved to be just what he said it was and it was all hot air. Despite that it may well have been the reason we got him as cheaply as we did. Miami hasn't exactly done a very good job of personnel management as far as WR's go. I wonder if they'd like to have Wes Welker back too, LOL.
I should clarify what I said about Avril though. He hasn't behaved like a jerk through his negotiations it's just that he's getting $10.6 mil this year under his tag and he's looking for a deal that compares with those of top DE's like MWill and Pep that average way more than $10 mil per year and he's not at their level.
That would be like Matt Forte truly looking to get AP money which he never was. I know they all play the game but with guys like Megatron, Stafford, Suh making huge money, and I mean huge even compared to some of the Bears deals, the guy needs to realize as Matt did that there's a cap and only so much to go around.
The Lions were crazy to pay Johnson what they did. He's a great player but contrast what he's getting to what we're paying for Marshall and no one can tell me that Marshall isn't as effective a WR. Damn he's getting nearly twice as much and Stafford was drafted under the old CBA rules so he's getting mucho millions too as is Suh.
Like Osi said, they can't pay all of us all-pro money. By attitude I mean that holding out may help him get more money but at the same time he's hurting a team that's on the rise. Don't these guys realize that if they become stars on a SB team the endorsement money that's waiting for them may make up for the mil or two a year they don't get in their contracts?
