Texans is a good point also. Right now Dallas has a stranglehold on all of Texas, there are times they even rate higher then the Texans in Houston based on TV ratings. But if Houston stays healthy and makes another playoff run they are going to start to steal some of that thunder. They'll lock up Houston and San Antonio will start to flip(right now SA has the 2nd most Cowboy fans in the State). But everyone is sick of Romo choking in big games and the team not getting to the playoffs/SB(going on 30 years now) If Houston starts making playoff runs and/or gets to the SB the fanbase will turn quick.
and let me emphasize, the fanbase is not behind Tony Romo right now; a good portion felt he was a bigger problem then TO.

Cowboys are like the Leafs in the NHL... they are always in win now mode and can't make a rebuild. They always have pressure and need to win. They can't afford a gamble like that when they have a good QB like Romo.

German, but you don't pay good qb's franchise money which is what Romo will demand. And a good portion of the fanbase would also disagree that he's a good qb. They haven't been in win now mode for over a decade; at least if they were they failed mightily at it. 2 playoffs and 1 playoff win since the mid 90's(think that's what sports radio down here talks about) that's not good enough for this fanbase, and a young top prospect qb would quiet the fanbase for a few years.
But all that depends on if they miss the playoffs again. Also remeber that JJ is taking more and more advice from his son and other high up's now, he's not the only one making the decisions anymore. It's just something to think about next offseason. It will be an interesting contract negotiation.

Perhaps the problem with the cowboys are other players and coaches not named Tony Romo. The guy seems to suffer from McNabb syndrom.

I just don't think Romo is the problem with the Boys. I think that you know more about them than I do too - I mean you live in Texas

I actually like tony's skill set. And he actually makes that OL look better then it is w/his scrambling ability; but he has a lot of Rex Grossman in him; both thought they were Farve and make a lot of bad decisions, but unlike Farve they cannot overcome it.
Boys have a lot of issues, getting a new qb won't solve it; but I don't think over paying for a boarderline franchise qb who will (in FA) command franchise money is worth it either. If your cap is cut that short for Romo, how do you fix the other issues? That's why I posted the article. It's not really about Orton perse, it's about the cowboys potentially moving on from Romo b/c of his cost.
Pretty much what you said. He shows moments of brilliance, and follows it up with the throws not even a peewee football player would make. He's been in the league too long to be broken of the habit now. He's going to need a stellar team around him if he's going to ever get a ring.

Farve never over came much over his career other than the favre fans praising him for every good play he has made and ignoring all the stupid rookie like plays he has made over his career. He is the only player I can think of that can keep both teams in the game when when he is throwing the ball.
