Rams hoping to turn trash to treasure, sign Vernon Gholston

Sixth pick of '08 draft has been bust Brad Biggs

The St. Louis Rams are taking a low-risk look at a high-priced bust. The team announced that it has signed defensive end Vernon Gholston, the sixth overall pick of the 2008 draft by the New York Jets.

Gholston never got his career going with the Jets and was signed by the Chicago Bears last summer. Gholston, an Ohio State product, was ineffective in preseason for them and was cut.

The Rams have been looking for an edge rusher and were reported to also be investigating veteran performer Andre Carter. At least Carter has produced in his career.

Ah well , any team dumb enough to sign this dog is gonna be singin the blues over the money they wasted so whaddyagonnado.

He starts out sounding like Ray doesn't he. He's got the voice and the phrasing down pretty damn well to start but then he wanders a bit as he gets going. Guys got a great voice for soul though. I looked for Ray's version of is but it's not on YouTube anywhere. Now that is a pure shame. Nobody did it any better although Solomon Burke came close.

I first came across it chasing down some stuff by Knopfler to listen to his licks and fills (always tasty) and said the same thing. Damn this guy sings like Ray. It's a great version of a great song but there's a ton of other who have done it too.

Yeah how 'bout that shit with Gholston. How do these guys manage to always get one more chance? If Marinelli couldn't get anything out of him I don't know who can.
