Terrell Owens begs Jets for job on Twitter
- Terrell Owens sent a tweet to the New York Jets Monday Night in what appeared to be the former NFL wide receiver begging for a football job. T.O. obviously saw a hole and took it when Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Rex Ryan and company looked liked their season was all but over. Is the once great receiver what the team needs to get back in contention?
Tuesday, the Chicago Tribune reported the news about the tweet seen from around the sports and Twitter worlds.
"Hey JETS!!! I'm available! I'm ready, willing & able! Call my agent @jordanwoy & let's make it happen," read T.O.'s tweet.
After the Jets fell again, this time in a dismal loss to the Houston Texans (23-17), fans and media pundits suggested Tim Tebow step in and stop the bleeding.
Despite Mark Sanchez posting sub-par numbers this season -- 48.4% in completions (last in NFL) -- Rex Ryan hasn't lost faith in the franchise quarterback.
''Yeah, no question," the Jets' coach said recently when asked if Sanchez was still the starting quarterback.
Terrell Owens' Jets tweet may have seemed like a desperate plea for work, but the New York football team could probably use some experience on the receiving end.
If Ryan is not willing to give Tim Tebow his moment over a failing Mark Sanchez, perhaps what needs to change is the cast of characters who are targeted.
Sure, T.O. is known to drop a pass here and there, but he still is among the best at the receiving position.
Besides, Santonio Holmes is out on injury and fans watched a few dead-on passes get dropped on Monday Night football. Owens may be what the doctor ordered.
Will Terrell Owens' Jets tweet get attention from Rex Ryan and New York?
