Bucs Put Nicks on IR..................
All-Pro guard Nicks goes on IR
The Associated Press – 16 hours ago
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have placed guard Carl Nicks, an All-Pro last season, on injured reserve.
They also put tight end Danny Noble on IR on Tuesday and elevated guard Roger Allen to the active roster from the practice squad.
Nicks, an All-Pro with the Saints in 2011 before signing with the Bucs as a free agent, will require surgery on his left foot to repair a toe problem. He has started all seven games with the Buccaneers and played in all 71 of his team's games since entering the league in 2008, including 68 consecutive starts.
Noble, a rookie from Toledo, has a hamstring injury. He has played in four games and been inactive for three others this season.
Allen is in his third season from Missouri Western.

Another expensive mistake we didn't make. This may be our year after all.
While the Bears have remained relatively healthy others have not. Nicks would the second OG lost for the year who we may have wanted to make a Bear. The other would Pitts rookie OG David DeCastro. Both are now on IR and lost for the season.
Add to that the somewhat mediocre year Mario Williams is having do to a wrist injury and his surgery and we've managed to dodge a few other bullets despite losing Alshon Jeffery for a few games.

You can't assume that those same injuries would have happened here, though. Anyone of those pickups would have helped improve this team. Nicks definitely would have been expensive and maybe not worth it, but I still would have taken M.Will or DeCastro.

Granted. Can't say one way or another.
The Bears would never have paid Nicks price though. MWill was on the list but out priced himself for our budget. If we'd have signed Mincey and anyone knew Wootton would have comeback as well as he has then I think we'd have taken De Castro.
But there will be others this year and I'm not at all unhappy with McClellin or the pickup of Rachal. If that guy can learn to block as well as he can probably fight we'll have a good OG.
