Eli Manning
Anybody notice how shitty of a season he is having yet ESPN and the sports networks are not ripping him yet when jay has a bad game the media is all over it. Well Eli has a better OL and one hell of a WR core yet he has only 12 TDs and 11 INTS in 10 games.

Actually I have heard a lot of talk shows talking about him having a bad year and possibly a dead arm.
Difference between him and Jay is the fact that Eli is no longer acting like a ginormous douche bag that gives plenty of ammo for the media to continually attack him. It also helped that he started off fairly hot, and won a few games by coming back from behind. It's only been the last 4 or so weeks that have really done him in.
really not sure why anyone is suprised by this though, he's never been elite; really f'n good, franchise, but not elite. He is very streaky. He's also had a very solid team around him every year. Good OL, solid WR/TE' play. Good RB's. D is normaly really good; standings betrayed how good that D was last year, they had a ton of injuries that allowed that team to hover around .500 and squeak into the playoffs. But come week 16 or so the D got healthy, and hot and that's what they rode to another SB.

I wouldn't be surpriced if he wins another SB.. Seems logic for that kid.

Anyway you slice it, winning is a great deodorant. Manning gets the benefit of the doubt because "Eli's Way" has won TWO Super Bowls. When "Jay's Way" wins something, he'll get that kind of pass too.
Heck, look at LeBron... He passed up a game winner the other night that he would've been crucified for LAST SEASON. Now, he's a champion and "LeBron's Way" is proven to win. He now gets a pass.

I will take that bet. And here's the reason why, Kobe Bryant took a beating before he won anything in the NBA. LeBron James took a beating before he won last season. Now, the very same play where he would defer isn't nearly the firestorm it was last season and hardly gets mentioned this season. Now, Kobe gets a pass when he eyeballs a teammate for making a mistake because Kobe's leadership has actually translated into winning at the highest level. The same will be for Smokin' Jay.
The narrative right now is that Smokin' Jay just doesn't get it. He's still learning how to win. If he should win, the narrative completely changes into how Smokin' Jay has figured out how to win, how to lead, and how to bring the very best out of his teammates.
Besides, anyone who has an alternative theory has to include some form of collusion among media types to blast on Smokin' Jay at every opportunity. To me, that just doesn't pass the smell test. The media is here to sell a story about how Player X is struggling to figure out how to succeed. Then we're sold that said player is beginning to realize the err of his ways and is improving. The final act is redemption and validation for all of the hard work put into the now realized success.
