Thats the whole point...AT THE TIME (i.e. while the game was going on), we didnt have a clue to the extent of Jay's injury. So, to most fans, it simply looked like he quit on the team. People based their judgement on what we saw, since scant information was available during the game. It happens. But, once the game was over, and we learned the extent of the injury, *most* fans calmed down and understood the situation more.
Compare that to RG3, who was injured BEFORE the game, had a visible knee brace, and topped with the fact that we saw his leg brutally twisted in the wrong direction via replays. The information available to us, the fans, is much different then what was available when Jay was injured.

Yeah... totally different...
Cutler tore his MCL and the Bears sat him before it became an ACL tear
Unlike RGIII, who had an LCL tear, and now an ACL tear... and may miss next season.
If you criticized Cutler for sitting down, when he was hurt and his play hurting the team, then you should applaud Shanahan/RGiii for toughing it out.

Again...different information was available during those two games, and as fans, we shape our opinions only on what is available to us.

Okay that's the end part of the scenerio. Now lets goto the start name the serious knee injury to Cutler that year that made him miss a game and wear a knee brace. I'll give you a few minutes to thnk about it: go.
Now lets goto the middle of the scenerio, goto the point of the game where Cutler was wearing a knee brace, was visably injured on that previoiusly injured/braced knee, and show me the point where he was visably limping back to the hudle where he was visably unable to step into his throws. I'll wait for you to find it: go.
Until you can show those two then the scenerios aren't the same. Like Jimmors said, once the injury got fully diagnosed even the media backed off, same w/the fanbase and agreed w/him being benched. Watching RGIII play it was OBVIOUS he should have been benched; it was not for Cutler, again not the same situation.

THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT. The media trashed Cutler for leaving the game when he was injured and hurting the team. They continued to trash Cutler days after the NFCCG. With pictures of him walking up stairs and other stupid things. They still trash Cutler due to that game.
The media trashed the Nats for shutting down Strasburg. And now they wonder why RGiii, why RGiii was playing while he was injured?
Hypocrisy at its finest.

I think you may have selective memory. Yes, i recall everyone blasting the Bears during the game and shortly after. But i also seem to recall that all of that died down in the next few days when the extent of his injury was revealed. And seeing as how we just had lost an NFCC game...to the Packers of all teams, there was plenty of bad emotions and feelings going around at the time, so perhaps you confused that with the original bashing during the game, i dunno.

RGiii couldnt stand after the second Quarter? It doesnt matter what your player looks like. Does it take 4 weeks for an MCL tear to become an ACL tear? All it takes is one hit. If your player is hurt, you protect him. Thats it.
If you criticized the Bears/Cutler for sitting down when he tore his MCL, and you are now criticizing the decision to allow RGiii to play... you are a hypocrite

I am talking about the National Media, not this board.

thank you for for not answering the question; b/c you weren't able to, point proven, not the same situation.

You are right, Cutler was a wimp for leaving the game with a torn MCL. He should have limped around the field and fell over with a torn ACL. Thats what a warrior would do. [/sarcasm]
Your question proves nothing. "He could still stand... He didnt look hurt enough" ... uhhh.... RGiii was standing on the sidelines too. Do you see how dumb your argument is?
