Report: Rams OT Saffold might demand trade

Report: Rams OT Saffold might demand trade
Newsday's Bob Glauber reports LT Rodger Saffold will "likely" ask the Rams to trade him if they sign free agent Jake Long.
The Rams would likely move Saffold to right tackle if they signed Long, and Saffold probably doesn't want to move off a more lucrative position. Saffold is entering a contract year, and left tackles make nearly double the money -- on average -- that right tackles do. St. Louis considers Saffold a strong starter and does not want to lose him. How this plays out might get interesting.

It is not about the Bears, but it could be.

Interesting. I just read on NBCSports that a source from the Rams has said that they have not even made an offer to Long yet and that prior reports were erroneous.

I'm not seeing a realistic scenario where this might help us. He doesn't want to play RT and he wants LT money. Not sure how or why he would come to Chicago.

He will eventually sign somewhere. Why not Chicago?

What would we do with him? He doesn't want to play RT and he wants LT money. Would we spend LT money on another LT that only wants to play LT when we already have an LT?

Long, I wish we could have gotten, and probably still can since he is apparently over pricing himself, but the same issue there. What would we do with him, and why would we spend all that money on him when we just filled the position?

We would just for a LT and then play them out of position? Either one of them or Bushrod would have to play out of position. I'm sure we told Bushrod he would start at LT. Just don't see we could make it happen.

Here is more good news relating to this guy:

Multiple reports dispute Jake Long-Rams deal
Both NFL Network and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch are shooting down a "report" that the Rams have a deal in place with free agent Jake Long.
We've historically found the media outlet "reporting" the Long deal to be incredibly specious and unreliable, so we hesitated to post it. Upon further inspection by reliable reporters like the Post-Dispatch's Jim Thomas and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, no deal is done. Long is still undergoing his physical, and according to Thomas the Rams and Long "haven't even discussed 'terms.'"

LOL, So you've been there before? Hopefully it's the road less traveled.

I don't understand why you are not seeing it Houston. We grab Jake Long in his state of dejection after the Rams let him go, and we put HIM at RT. No, wait...I don't know.
