Every thread I click 'reply' to.
I click reply > post my reply > submit reply = then I get that message.
In order to get my reply posted, I have to;
Click reply > post my reply > submit reply > click backspace > submit reply.

Now I've lost the option to choose different smilie menus.
Not sure what you mean by smilie menu's..
When I hit "more" under the smilies, I get the categories...
So maybe it's a feature that I don't use, hence the reason I didn't notice it's broke/missing?
Let me know and I'll see what I can do for ya.
