Whoa, are you off your meds, Navy & Orange? Ok, on a serious note, your grievances are your own and you're entitled to them. However, the growth numbers of this site doesn't vibe with your 'opinion' that it's a bad site. The Admins are quite open with the goings-on here and that's rare for a website. Whatever the disagreement you may have had with them, I think they discussed it with you and you just weren't happy with the results.

As for your unhappiness with the 'children' you think post here, you're free not to come here again. Free will...it's a beautiful thing! Here's another fact for you: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' website, neighborhood, city, state, country or better yet, WORLD. You'll live your entire life disappointed like a motherf*cker if that's what you're looking for. And, it's awfully short-sighted and arrogant to demand something (perfection) that you yourself cannot provide.

I just pm'ed you about this...As for the loading times it has nothing to do with the sig's Its the server that we have switched to and I agree with you 100 percent. It sucks. hopefully our server will get that problem solved.

N & O, if memory serves, your suspension revolved around site improvements & changes that made you have to "look" for a thread that you wished to post in. The issue was your flexibility in adapting to change, and when you expressed your inflexibility, you also tore anyone who tried to help you a new one.
Change is inevitable, and those who adapt move on to happiness. Those who don't talk about the good ole days when we used to walk to school up hill both ways.

I absolutely welcome you back to the site, but if your undies are still bunched up, I imagine that your stay here will be brief.

The season is here, and you know there is no better Bears site out there. Take a deep breath and let the past be just that, the past.

It would be a great shame to lose someone who has followed the Bears for so long, and theres still a high average age to the site, I think its around 32 years old. The Gamez forum is still superb and it would be good to see you back, no one is saying you can't have your opinion, these are what make discussions so powerful and so god damn entertaining...........if for instance I get pissed off, which dosen't happen often I just stick in my 2 cents and bugger off for a while to cool down...........the server is definately getting quicker and so what do you say, come back and help us keep this the best Bears site around.

ps if you want a sig made up tell me what you want and I'll do you one.

OK, I admit that although I've been a member here for quite a while, I don't post much. I was moderating at another Bears-oriented MB and spent most of my time there. That board is done, so I'm looking for a new place to spend (waste? :D) my time cussing and discussing the Bears. Having moderated for a while has made me even more opinionated than I normally am, so I hope you don't take any suggestions I might make in the wrong way.

After coming back to this board for the first time in a while, I was really struck by the fact that out of 15 main forums, you don't have one devoted solely to Bears Football. Yep, a Bears fan message board where the main forum for Bears oriented posts is shared with the entire rest of the NFL. Even computer geeks get their own forum here, but not the Bears.

Why not have a "Chicago Bears Football Forum" for Bear-centric discussions, and an "NFL Football Talk" forum for members who are inclined to discuss the rest of the league?

I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'...

OK, while I'm on a roll, here's three more observations, FWIW:

Fantasy football is very popular, but it has NOTHING to do with being a fan of any particular NFL team. FF owners are in to individual players and their performances, and their own fantasy team(s). As such, FF should be a separate forum, not a sub-forum that needs to be scrolled past to get to Bear-centric threads.
Same goes for the smack talk sub-forum. I could give a sh*t less what fans of other teams think and don't care to waste my time on smack talking. I see the need for and value in having such a forum, but don't think it should be a sub-forum of Bear football discussion.
Finally, there are too many "stickied" threads at the head of the Bears forum. When I come here, I want to see member discussion on the Bears. There is a place for "stickied" or "pinned" topics, but we always tried to keep them down to a limited number when I was moderating elsewhere.

Like I said, I'm an opinionated SOB, and you created a thread for suggestions, so that's all I'm doing. There's no criticism in what I'm posting, only opinion, and you can take or leave it FWIW.

But, somebody has spent a lot of development time on this web site and MB, and for all the whiz-bang features and content that I see, I think there's some room for changes that would enhance the experience of the dedicated Bear fan who lacks either the time or interest to use other, non-Bear-football related site features.

Thanks for the feedback! It isn't taken in ANY negative way! This place is created with ideas from fans, and we are open to any and all suggestions. We can't accomodate all of them, but we talk about each and every one of them!

Ok, I'll address some of the things you have mentioned. Oh Thanks for coming here!

Why don't we have a Bears Forum?

We actually used to. With the number of posts and such, we couldn't justify having a bunch of forums. So we combined the forums for the time being, until we had enough traffic to warrant it's own forum.

With the recent increase of members, we probably should look back into this.

Thanks again for the feedback. I'll address these using the numbers you have.

1) We tried to shrink up the forums that people had to scroll past on the forum home page. It was quite long. The sub forum was a way for us to shrink the main forum display screen listing. We can discuss how this "sub" forum display is working out browsing wise. We have only used them since maybe August?

2) Kind of the same as above. It goes back to the main idea, is having a long listing of forums a good or bad thing? How many forums is too many?

3) With the stickies, TRUST ME, I unsticky threads like crazy. I feel the same way! Too many stickies can be a pain in the butt. Stickies are for important threads that are a "must read". However they should be unstickied. Maybe I should code it so they get automatically unstickied after X days.. I hate page 1 being half stickies..

These are all valid points, and we still be discussing these. The stickies one I for sure and going to address. With all the stickies on page one, it makes page one almost worth skipping.

Thanks for your reply. Your responses are valid ones and I understand why you might agonize somewhat over how many separate forums are too many, believe me.

But the thrust of what I was driving at is this:

This site is supposed to be a Bear fan oriented site first and foremost, as I understand it. As such, any forum or sub-forum above and beyond Bear football is extraneous, at least in theory. How ever many forums there are is up to you people who run the joint, but without a dedicated Bear football forum at the top, uncluttered by extraneous acoutrements, what's the point of this being a Bear "Superfan" site, really?

Just for instance, the FF and Rival Smack Talk forums could easily and more logically be set up as sub-forums of of an "NFL Football Talk" main forum, rather than in what arguably should be a dedicated "Bears Football Talk" forum. While there may be a need or desire for FF or Smack talk, they are both of secondary importance to what the stated mission of the site is supposed to be.

Again, not telling you or anyone else what to do, just making some observations. It looks like the other Bears oriented bbs I've been moderating on is going to survive in the long run after all, so I don't know how much time I'll spend here anyway. But I think my points are valid considerations, whether I participate here or not.

A few more suggestions, when you come home, make sure that when you walk in

#1 you are not stampeded

#2 The Wife MUST let you post every now and then

To Grizzly:
They used to have sub-forums, only problem was there were so many subforums for so many different things that they cluttered with only 1-2 threads a week in each :)
