I have turned this back on. I don't think this was the real reason for the outages.
I have however made changes to how often it updates the stats. So instead of update stats every 30 minutes, it's every 12 hours or so...
So let's try this again.

This latest update, otherwise known as vB4... is less resource intensive. It's quicker, has better processing, etc....
Basically.... it's lean and mean.
So.... I'm going to enable the xperience/awards this weekend. They are discussed in the first post of this thread if you care to know more. Even the hack for the xperience/awards is updated, so I can't see this having the same problems it had before, which was being server intensive.
Awards, the Plaza (formally DaStore), and a host of other things use POINTS that you can acquire. I'll talk more about that after we test/tweak. Expect another week, or so, until we can go live with the Plaza.
In the meantime... here is how you can earn credits/points (think currency such as Bears Bucks):
Each day since registration
Replying in your own created thread
Each tag
Reputation received (separate from high 5)
Reputation given (INCLUDING high 5)
Each friend
Rating a thread
Each post (including comments to others blogs)
Each "high five" received
Each field in profile completed
Each referral
Thread creation
Poll participation/voting
Each blogentry you make (your own blog)
Creating a thread that is "stickied" by an admin/mod.
Each "published" article (the creator, not the publisher)
Initial registration
And yes, as these changes are implemented, you'll notice your credits going up and down as they occur. That will continue until we go live, after we have finalized everything, so don't freak out if you lose/gain credits. The amounts you might have had before don't necessarily translate into the same value in the new system.
So.... Go forth and complete your profile. Go forth and make legitimate blog entries, post, reply, etc... go forth and multiply.
Are the points gone now?
Read the post DIRECTLY ABOVE YOURS.
I got hungry, so I ate 'em.

So is the High Five thing dead? I keep seeing people giving me a high five on my posts, but the counter has said 12 forever.
I high-fived you and it now reads "Thanked 94 Times in 53 Posts" (up from 93). So 12 might be the number you've given, maybe?
Yes... the "high fives" is the number you have given.
The "thanked" is how many you have gotten.
