So i finally decided to follow soccer, been enjoying the US WC matches so far. Been talking to soccer fans on reddit to find a team to follow after the WC (besides MLS), and so far they recommend following the EPL to start, and have suggested mostly Liverpool, Everton and Aston Villa as teams i would like, so now just need to pick one to follow.

Liverpool is awesome, they are my EPL pick! have some great tradition and have some solid players on that squad :)

I would also follow your Local MLS team, Don't pay attention to haters who say its "inferior" they have the 4th most players in the world cup this year :)

I'd also add Chelsea, Arsenal, ManCity and Manchester United to the list. You can't go wrong with any Premier League team.

And I agree with Aenir, follow the MLS. Of course they're not playing at the same level as the British teams, but for a newbie it's still entertaining. :thumb:

Well i specifically want to avoid the bandwagon popular rich teams, your Patriots/Yankees/Red Sox/Heat, etc. Thats one reason Aston Villa interested me, someone made the parallels with the Bears, and it is pretty fascinating, definitely leaning between them and Liverpool.

And yeah, ill check out MLS when i can. Vegas doesnt have a team, it would be cool if they did, have one locally to support, but i could always just go with the Chicago FIYAHHHH

Whereas I completely agree with that in principle...and I am no trying to tell you which team to pick/follow (cough, Chelsea - j/k)...there are some considerations you might want to take into account...

First, in soccer, the worst finishing teams are routinely demoted (relegated) to the lower, much less televised, league every year... whereas Villa is a somewhat safe mid-table team, there is always that chance with lesser teams (no offence meant)...Fulham, after 12 year in the EPL, just got relegated down last season...

Second, with top, big money teams, there is the added bonus of possibility of playing in the Championship League...basically a super league of the best teams in Europe that occurs concurrently with the domestic leagues...in the EPL, you have to finish in the top 4 the previous year to qualify the Championship League....there is a 2nd tier Europe league as well, called the Europa League, but it's not nearly has prestigious...

Also, with bigger clubs, you might have more opportunity to see them play live, as I believe they tend to tour more off season (they obviously have more money to do so)...I've seen ManU, ManCity, Chelsea (twice) and will be going to the Liverpool game at Soldier Field later in July....

Liverpool, btw, is owned by the same people that own the Red Sox...

By all means...I find the thought of you searching through piles of homoerotic pictures of soccer players quite amusing...

Neither did I...I only started watching/following soccer a few years ago...before I was a certificated soccer hater...I am not going try explain why soccer is such a great game or why I've learned to love it, but it is and I do...

It has to be the #1 sport in the world for a reason.

I just couldn't handle being touched by another man in those ways.

I grew up in a Varsity Blues type of town.

We didn't even have soccer for men.

We had like two men wrestlers. The town had to combine with another town to form a team. If you even call it that.

Men wrestling is 100% worse than soccer. Saying "No homo" before a match just doesn't count.

And it's still not as gay as soccer.
