Wonder what that does for his draft status...

One of commentators on the NFL network was talking about his commitment to work and showing up on every down. Not positively. I never saw him play college ball so I don't know.

As long as his stats in the combine stay high, I'm sure he will be a top 5 pick.

He'll probably run a very good 40. As an aside the combine is about the biggest waste of time in terms if the drills having anything to do with football. It's a joke. I don't care if Clowney did 1 rep at 225...what does the tape say? Paea did 49 reps...who would you rather have? Terrell Suggs only got 19 on the bench(just like some guy on our team) and he turned out great.

Clowneys problem is that he disappeared this year leading people to question his work ethic, and this, while stupid, doesn't help the perception, but watch his film from the previous year and the kid can ball.

Good, let his draft status get hurt. If he falls to 14, he's still a steal.

21 Reps is fairly typical for DE's especially speed finesse style DE.s

That's what I'm thinking, dude already had some questionmarks, this will hurt his stock along w/the work ethic thing. Probably won't hurt it to much, but if he were to fall to us, I'd grab him in a heartbeat. And unlike She he's got the size to be able to bulk up and actually played legit talent and performed at a high level against that talent.

JT, no it probably won't happen, but strange things happen in the NFL draft; not normally at the top 5 though.

There's another defensive end on our team who had work ethic questions about him, and only performed 23 reps on the bench at the combine...his name...Julius Peppers. Don't get too excited boys...he's probably gonna run a 4.5 and broad jump 11 feet today and will be right back in the top 5.

    Rep numbers are overrated.

His 40 time was more than enough to make him a top pick

Aarron Donald ran a 4.65 at 285 pounds...played out of his mind at the senior bowl too.

oh ya and he was doing this 11 years ago so comparing what people did at the combine 11 years ago is laughable.

Gotta respect that comparatively disappointing statistics that Peppers put up lead to us still talking about him 11 years later. Most first rounders don't play that long, or that well. ......And the comparison is also of note because one player would be replacing the other.

It just shows you how little the modern day slave auction has to do with football production.

Who ran a 1.56 10, 10 years ago? And why is it laughable? I'm assuming you're still talking about bench numbers. Has there been some sort of advance in bench press technique over the last 10 years that allows people to rep 225 more then in the past?

I don't know what the #'s from 11 years ago look like, but I bet the vast majority were worse then they are today and over the last few years. That's how the combine tends to go; as time goes by and the players gear more and more of their time and training specifically towards the combine they are going to be better at it then the guys that came before hand.

For comparison sake Ric, Sapp (might be best 3-tech in NFL history) only did 16 reps
