Hey before I get this started give love and credit to where it's due, Hub(love him or hate him) has a great Bears info site, and follows other teams as well, and has some fantasy info, really should check it out. Windycitygridiron is also a great place for Bears news, and if you are a twitterer you really should be following zachzaidman, john mullins, brad biggs, and hub arkush and lawrence holmes...at the minimal. and don't forget to check out espn.com/chicago and goto the bears secction to get the tweets from their guys.

Bears injury update for Wednesday, Aug. 7
    Wednesday, August 7, 2013 10:33 a.m. CDT
Julius Peppers is absent from practice again; he was excused yesterday. Kyle Moore filled in at defensive end. Expect to see a lot of him and Shea McClellin on Friday night, as Corey Wootton has ice on his lower right leg.
Free safety Chris Conte is not participating in team drills - Craig Steltz took his spot next to Major Wright with the top defense.
Tackle Jonathan Scott (knee) remains out. Earl Bennett is present for the first time since Saturday, but he is being treated for a concussion. Bennett is not practicing and won't play in Friday's preseason opener.

Frey has made a lot of plays in camp. Let's see if it carries over into the preseason games. I'm sure teams will test him.

Hayden is another player on a 1-year deal. Tough break. Seemed to have settled in at nickel after bouncing around last year. #Bears

with Hayden out... and Frey likely to replace him... can Hardin play CB in a pinch? I assume they'll look to pick up another veteran CB tho... if there are any worth picking up...

Hayden was a vet, and he will be missed. He was brought back for another season for a reason. Hoke must have felt comfortable with him as the nickel. Frey might be ready, but the coaches wanted a vet back there.

A lot was made the last couple of days about the defensive line batting down passes, and how that's something they shouldn't be doing. I touched on it yesterday, but in case you missed it, I'll hit on it again.
On game day, the offensive line will be cutting down the defenders at the line of scrimmage, but in practice you never cut your teammates. It's a safety issue. Cutting the defensive line will allow clearer passing lanes for the quarterback to see through.
One other no-no in practice is even getting too close to a QB when he's throwing. Pass rushers usually run by the QB, being sure to avoid his follow through. During games you always see a QB hitting his hand on a helmet, or shoulder pad after he releases the ball. The last thing you'd want to see happen to your starting QB break a finger on his throwing hand during the team portion of practice.
Here are the players that didn't participate in Wednesday's practice.LB - D.J. Williams (calf strain)
WR - Earl Bennett has a concussion and will not play on Friday against Carolina.
    OT - Jonathan Scott (knee)
    DE - Julius Peppers (excused)
CB/NB - Kelvin Hayden is out for the year with a torn hamstring. This is a tough loss as Hayden was the starting nickle, and he was the primary back up at corner.

Chris Conte, Henry Melton, and Jermon Bushrod were a bit limited today.

Conte stopped practicing because he was feeling some tightness. Precautionary measure. Not considered serious.

Holmes: Vet defenders have been very complimentary of Frey, w/Hayden gone Frey will be the one to watch Friday

Biggs: Trestman states Cutler will get very limited reps on Fri **Wonder about the rest of the O that's me thinking here not Biggs**

ZZ: Conte stopped practicing b/c he felt some tightness, this was precautionary

ZZ: EBennett has a concussion, will not play Friday

Mullins: Bears spending extra seccsions on spec teams, Brown has taken all reps w/#1 Offense

Chicago Bears: Fendi w/a nice reaching TD grab from McCown in RZ drill

Mullins: james brown is pretty ensconced at no1(think he got auto corrected and ment entrenched) Long is still a work in progress in pass protection

ZZ: melton shaken up and watching practice

ZZ: bushrod participating in full team drill at LT

Biggs: Based on practice reps Brown starts at RG against Carolina

ZZ: Wootton watches practice w/wrap around his leg

Mullin: Conte out w/lower body something. Steltz at #1 w/D

    ZZ: EBennett watching practice today

Seems at least through camp this point in camp that Brown is the RG. Going back to my point doesn't matter how much of a freak that Long is, if he doesn't know how to play(next to no college experience) then he cannot be on the field making positive impact.

Good to see the team is telling the players to not get hurt, Conte felt tightness and they told him to hold off. Melton a little shaken up, told him to take a seat. Good b/c this team cannot afford to lose starters like GB is.

The Hayden injury is actually a blessing. I'd like to see Frey and Hardin on the field more. Let those guys carve out a niche on defense.

Hearing that Brown is holding down that RG is pretty awesome news. I mean to get him from the UDFA scrap pile and have him turn into a starter, is just tits.
