When plays are sent into the microphone in the QB's helmet ..... is it turned off immediately after or does it stay on allowing the OC to communicate audibles to the QB ?

( not expecting alot of replies on this but it was just something that popped into my mind watching MNF tonight )

I thought the mic was only on to get the play in. But I don't know honestly, if the mic was on once both teams were lined up it seems it would be an unfair advantage.

I think I heard once that it is based upon time, it shuts down after so many seconds. Those teams that run the hurry up offense then could theoretically get to the line, setup and get further instruction, no?

it depends on how quick it is. If it's 50% of the clock then hell ya they could.

it also means those hurryup o's like what Philly runs could well have a huge advantage.
