Not counting what is set aside for the draft, what (if any) do the Bears have left to spend?

well considering the team had to use some of Cutlers contract to get this done, I'd say next to nothing.

The structure of the deal hasn't been posted yet. It depends on what his 2014 cap hit is but there's all kinds of time left to add more cap space.

EDIT: Spotrac isn't showing any signing bonus. Just $15.5 mil in guarantees so it may be as much as $7.5 mil this year. If that's the case it would somewhere between $2-$3 mil left. I'll just add that if his $15.5 guaranteed $$$ is paid out in yrs. 1 and 2 then essentially this is a two year deal for $15.5 mil. Beyond that he'll have to earn years 3 and 4 similar to the way Cutler's deal was done or we can release him without a cap hit.

From what I've seen only year 1 and 2 are guaranteed, so he must be getting that money then. Either way it's better than what Ware and Peppers signed for.

Last report says he gets a guaranteed bonus next March so I'd say the 2014 cap hit is much lower than $7.5 mil.

I'd expect that we're now set for the draft to fill the remaining holes in the roster. I'd be surprised if we did any major FA signings at this point. Maybe some vet minimum deals, but nothing major.

Agreed, and I'm beginning to think Allen's cap hit for 2014 is a lot closer to that $4 mil he freed up than it's is to $7.5 mil. If so he's still left himself some room to sign a couple more including his own. Mannelly is one unless he decides to retire and Britton is another because he still needs a swing OT.

Now he's shuffled the deck as far as what he might do with that first round pick. The way he's done things in bunches, like the OL last year, he may still take Donald to add even more to the pass rush and use Allen, Young and Houston in the DE rotation. As good a pass rusher as Allen is he doesn't play the run anywhere near as well as Houston or Young. If we can keep him off the field more it only adds to his effectiveness as a rusher.

I'd say either DT or S in the first
