Clint Hurtt leaves Louisville, hired by Chicago Bears as assistant defensive line coach By Patrick Schmidt - Jan 23rd, 2014 at 5:36 pm Clint Hurt has left Louisville Cardinals coaching staff according to Jason Higdon of Fox Sports to be the assistant defensive line coach for the Chicago Bears, according to Football Scoop. Hurtt has been the defensive line coach at Louisville since 2010 in addition to being the school’s recruiting coordinator after coming to the Cardinals after coaching with the Miami Hurricanes for seven of the past eight seasons. Hurtt was one of two former Miami assistants cited for their role in the lack of institutional control as a result of the investigation into former booster Nevin Shapiro and was handed a show-cause penalty. With the Bears he won’t have any NCAA show-cause penalties and will be counted on developing former first round pick Shea McClellin who may be moving in to pass-rushing specialist role as well as getting more out of former second round pick, defensive tackle Stephen Paea, among others. The Bears earlier announced the hiring of defensive line coach Paul Pasqualoni and Tim Herring as the team’s linebackers coach after one of the worst defensive seasons in franchise history.
