It might be undecided but right now there is no reason for Palmer to be in the lead, and if nothing changes and he's somehow the backup wk 1, I'll have a real issue with it.

Palmer just needs to throw a couple more INTs and he's done.

Hoping for Clausen to get the job.

After having finally seen Clausen in preseason, I'm okay with either guy. It will all come down to who can run the offense better.

It's pretty close and while Clausen might have the edge with his arm and athleticism Palmer knows the system better, understands the role of back up quarterback, and is less likely to make risky decisions in a pared back playbook. Palmer seems more like the prototypical Trestman quarterback.

I think Clausen is a better quarterback and I would wager he gets the job, but he might not be better for what Trestman wants him to do as a backup. I could see Trestman going with Palmer for that reason if the competition continues to stay so close.

Either way, I think both QBs are quality backups for Cutler.

I'd rather have a guy that can closely emulate the starter then a guy that has to have a completely different game plan b/c he lacks any quality of your starter. Palmer's arm might be weaker then McCown's, lack of an NFL arm just doesn't make backup anymore then starter.
