German champions Bayern Munich beat 10-man Chelsea on penalties to lift the Uefa Super Cup.

The Super Cup is a game between the winners of last year's Champions League and the Europa Cup.

It was also the first time ex-Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola and former Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho had met after leaving the Spanish rivals.

The win meant Bayern gained revenge for their 2012 Champions League final defeat against the Blues.

An entertaining game finished 2-2 after Javi Martinez took the game to penalties with the last kick of the game.

Fernando Torres had given Chelsea the lead before Franck Ribery equalised.

Eden Hazard restored Chelsea's lead despite Ramires' dismissal but Romelu Lukaku missed the decisive spot-kick.

Super Cup shoot-out as it happened

    • David Alaba (Bayern) scored 1-0
    • David Luiz (Chelsea) scored 1-1
    • Toni Kroos (Bayern) scored 2-1
    • Oscar (Chelsea) scored 2-2
    • Phillip Lahm (Bayern) scored 3-2
    • Frank Lampard (Chelsea) scored 3-3
    • Franck Ribery (Bayern) scored 4-3
    • Ashley Cole (Chelsea) scored 4-4
    • Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern) scored 5-4
    • Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea) missed 5-4
It was a typically gritty and courageous performance from Jose Mourinho side, who played the final 40 minutes with 10 men.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech played fantastically, but with seconds remaining he was powerless to prevent Martinez poking home from close range to set up a dramatic penalty shoot-out.

After nine successful spot-kicks Lukaku, who spent last season on loan at West Brom, missed the decisive penalty with Bayern keeper Neuer diving low to keep out the Belgian's tame effort.

Holy shit what a great game! If all Super-Cups were like this they'd be on the same level as a Champions League finale!
Karma is a bitch. Payback for the Champions League finale, and now Chelsea fans knows how it feels to almost have won a game and then lose. Wolf I hope you saw this game, it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than Man. U - Chelsea!

Yeah, I saw it (most of it)...sorry I don't see this thread earlier...I was a great game, but I actually missed the last couple minutes (the tie-up) and the shootout...my damn DVR cut it off...I though we were going to hold a 10 men line like we did against Barcelona a couple of years ago...not to be...oh well, Supercups aren't all that super...still sucks to lose...good win for Bayern...
