The Chicago Bears agreed to terms Monday with safety Brock Vereen and quarterback David Fales on four years contracts, the team announced. We're usually one of the first teams to get all of our draftees under contract but this is even faster than usual. Player agents won't agree but the best part of that last CBA as far as this part of the process is concerned was to put a lid on these deals and slot the values in each round by what number pick you were. No more haggling over $$$ just the amount to be guaranteed if any with a little room to play around with a signing bonus. Here's your deal so just sign on the dotted line.

new CBA makes Stien's job a lot easier, but he's still getting this stuff worked out before everyone else.

It's nice to not be losing our entire cap structure to rookies. It's never good to miss on a pick but with them commanding whatever they wanted it was doubly as important to hit on higher draft choices. Now a bit of the sting is taken out.
