I was hoping that A J Lindeman would make the team. It would have been nice to see a local guy make it from a small school.

I'm concerned about the talk about Hardin possibly being cut.

Yeah but unfortunately he really, really sucked big time. Most of these local guys are just camp fodder to provide enough bodies to run drills and such. There never is much hope for them.

I think Hardin is just fine. Major Wright is a FA after this season, and you don't give up on a project pick like him when it also adds possible leverage and future security. Plus, I think it's a safe bet to carry five safeties.

We could be going too far with this , we are under the assumption that right off the bat ... HALAS HALL knows what its doing.

Actually this time around they might know what they are doing.

Steve Maneri and Kyle Adams backing up Martellus Bennett, which basically implies that both backups have made the final 53.

Considering Miller and Pope were both cut in favor of Maneri and Adams is an interesting topic of discussion all on it's own. Obviously Maneri is the perfect blocking TE as a former OT, but Adams has quietly become an interesting guy to watch. Realize, of course, that the bears signed him just two short years ago as an UDFA, few of which even makes the practice squad, but he saw action in 8 games (ST) in his rookie season. Last year he played in 15 games, and it wasn't all on ST. Now, this is his third season, and he is a potential lock for the 53 man roster pending any other potential signing from the cast offs of other teams. Interesting dynamic playing out with this kid.

I love it when guys come out of nowhere. It seldom happens so its kinda cool to watch when it does, at least in my opinion. Similar story to Anderson and Tolliver (WR's) but they get a bit more attention at a premium position, so we've already been watching them.

There have been a lot of rumors that the Lions have pondered cutting Tony Scheffler to save $2 million on the cap. I'm not sure how valid those rumors are. Assuming we could afford him though, he would be a good fit as a receiving type of 2nd TE that they'd hoped for with Onobun. Scheffler and Cutler have a history too.

How much cap space will be available though before the season well and truely starts after the cuts? I had seen some where we may on have around $1.6m on week 1, however next year we may end up nearer $50m but around 20+ players(possibly) heading for FA, I may of course have my figures totally wrong.

I'm rather surprised he was not on this one, but you are right, nothing earth shattering here.

Good post. If past actions are any indication the Bears won't pay big time $$$ to their Safeties. If Wright prices himself out of what Emery is willing to spend then Hardin should be the perfect guy to step in and eventually he may anyway. When I think of a kid his size with CB speed playing SS where he can hit the way Hardin likes to I keep thinking this guy was made to play that spot. He just needs to learn the position having never played it in college.

And so far Onobun as well. They need to put him in front of a jugs machine for 8 hours though and get him past his catching issues.

Cutler would love to have Tony Scheffler around to throw too. This is the point where we should be watching for stuff like this and it's good you pointed this out. Between today and this coming Sunday I'm sure quite a few vets who still have a little tread on their tires will be released. Any shot we have at picking up one who can upgrade a position for us should be looked at.

Yeah I don't think he'll make it either but there are probably a few more deserving of being cut than him. They may let him stick around to let him showcase himself as a power back next game. I still think the kid could play in the NFL but he's just not a fit for us. If we keep a true FB it's gotta be Fiametta or we keep a FB/TE and it's Adams. That one's still up in the air.

No problem brother. Most of us would like to forget about him anyway or are at least hoping Kromer and Trestman do. LOL
