That's crazy, to me. Johnson is nowhere near as good at his position as Byrd is at his. Give me the sure impact playmaker at S over the the guy we should have taken over pool jumper.

Sorry pal. I'll have to disagree with you here. DL is much more important than the safety position. If we had a decent DL we could still have Conte and Wright as starting safeties and we would be fine. Fix the DL first, then we can talk about overpaying a safety.

We have two sets of problems here. Yes, the DL is most important, but the safeties need to both go too. A good DL helps the secondary but does not replace it. You still need a pair of NFL-quality safeties as starters. Our two guys are not starter quality IMHO. Emery needs to fix BOTH the DL issue AND the safety problem. And if Peanut walks, then we need help at CB. This defense is a total abortion.

Let's not exaggerate, JABF. Conte and Wright didn't do well last season, but we could do worse. They are still better than other starting safeties out there.

I don't understand the motivation for the Rosario cut at this point. His cap hit was minimal so not like much space freed up unlike Bush. What is gained by releasing him now only 10 days after re-signing him?
