I am not sure what to make of this, talk amongst yourselfs.
I think it says 2 things:
1) The D is able to step up when necessary
2) The teams who are winning in the 4th qtr are not worried about scoring again on the Bears.
Great points, I feel like the Bears were kind of sitting on the lead last night instead of going for the kill.
I like that optimistic view, let's go w/that :)
Interesting...that stats seems to suggest I should have a lot of confidence in this Def to hold a lead going into the 4th...yet after watching the games this season, I don't....
Indeed, even the Giants O looked like they wasn't a 0-5 team going into this match. They could pretty much do what ever they felt like, if it wasn't for Eli's late INT I would say they would have won the game.. Eli without INTS=Giants win. Giants with INTS=Giants lose... Sounds familiar?
Welcome to the message board Jimmy Mac.
This is a team that has a lot of "fight" in it, and I like that. Even with all of the injuries on defense mounting up, they still fight until the end.
Thanks for the welcome, and I like the fight in them too.
Slowly but surely coming together.
Wasn't aware of the stat, but it's something to hang your hat on, I suppose.
We've got a ways to go though, defensively. Injuries don't make that easier.
In the 4th quarter, it also means our offense is moving the ball.
No defense can continuously hold an offense. Not with the teams we have faced. We've excelled in the 4th, and our defense is off the field.
If, as Ric says, Thursday night games are a fluke, then I'll say the defense is only guaranteed good for one quarter, but usually 2, if the offense starts out slowly. They've been giving up WAY too many 80+ yard drives for touchdowns, though.
They better buy a lotto ticket before their luck turns around.
The defense is not very good, and the injuries are not helping. If we can get Tillman and Paea healthy and if Bostic can learn to cover then maybe we can get back to acceptable, but we will not be the Monsters this year.
