Oooo, impressive. I do like the phonetics of his same though. "Shawn Drawn". Will broadcaster get mixed up if we call a draw to Draughn? I'm sure we'll have to or three more in the battle before all is said and done.

not sure what people are expecting, the team needs camp bodies and depth, but not a lot of cap space, this was a solid signing and the guy has all the world to try and come in here and outdo the competition. At least it's not another "experienced vet" that's going to cost multi millions every year to come in IF Forte gets hurt and under perform.

Draughn can also apparently return kicks as well.

I agree 100% this type of "show me" player is the better way to go as opposed to overpaying for guys like Chester Taylor and Michael Bush.

All Chester showed me was a guy that was around 2 yrs to long and stole money
All Marion(Souls savior for backup rb) the Barbarion showed me is that even after years of being a starter he still didn't know when to get out of bounds or take knee.
All Bush showed me was that he was a backup RB for a reason in Oak, and was WAY overapaid by the Bears.

Give me a slew of cheap young guys that want to prove themselves over a sle w of vets that are looking to relax after they cash in.

Exactly. It's the way good teams do business. And it isn't something that a lot of us are used to because we haven't operated like a proper NFL team in a long time.

The 26-year-old Draughn has played for Washington (2011), Kansas City (2011-2013) and Baltimore (2013).

He appeared in three games for the Ravens last season, rushing four times for two yards. The Ravens waived him in October.

Draughn had his most productive pro season in 2012, rushing 59 times for 233 yards and two touchdowns, catching 24 passes for 158 yards and returning 23 kickoffs for 537 yards.

I don't think he was signed as a player. I think he's supposed to help Virginia McCaskey keep the tomato garden weeded. He'll be fine for that. If Shea doesn't do better this year he'll be joining him I suspect. Shea could probably help shoveling the walks there too in the winter.

    Yeah J-99,

I thought the same thing also but lets break down the players 2012 numbers :

    Rushing: 233/59 =3.9 =+2 TD

Passes caught: 159/24 = 6.5 YPA not spectacular but within reason.

This one kind of jumps out : 537 /23 for kickoff return yards ...

    Thats a 23 yard average. Uhhh ...

Shaun Draughn. Old man Draughn's boy.

He's been on 5 teams since 2011 (including his camp-fodder stints). Last season for the Ravens he had 4 carries for 2 yards LINK (that's a half of a yard per carry). I suspect we'll let Forte go now that we have Draughn here. I fully expect they'll have a "Draughn Package" for him soon too.

So... just how many guys do the Bears have on the roster that can return kicks? Ten?
