Source: #Bears are now targeting #Raiders star defensive end Lamarr Houston after missing out on Michael Bennett. They are pushing hard

I like his size. He and Melton played at Texas together (for another reunion of sorts)

FA defensive linemen-the metaphorical cock tease of the Bears. With Emery probably not even targeting Houston.

I like him better than Johnson....seems more versatile.

IMO this is the next best thing. I don't see a 'blow the doors off' type of guy like Byrd so we may just be looking at filling in a few tier 2 guys in FA and hope we hit a few home runs in the draft. Last year we were able to do it with hitting bit on Mills in the 5th as well as long at 20 so possibly hoping to repeat that on the defensive side.

So our starting DE will be Houston and Bass... One guy the Raiders released and another guy who it seems as if the raiders dont want back

He's a bit undersized but I like is upside. He or Michael Johnson would ba a nice addition.

Not completely true, Bass wasn't released he was on their practice squad. And everyone I hear talking about Houston is that they don't understand WHY they don't want him back, he was one of their best D players.

This is precisely how the good teams do it.

Fill spots with multiple lower tier guys and hit your home runs in the draft. Houston would be a perfect start to that.

When was the last time you saw a team that tried to hit home runs in free agency make it to/win the Super Bowl? That's right you didn't.

Houston instead of a "pass rusher" is the next thing Emery likes to tout "versatile". He's your can play all along the line guy.

When you compare him to Peppers or Michael Johnson (both at 6'7''), yes he's undersized.

He's shorter, he's not undersized. For what it's worth, Peppers is 285 and Johnson is 270...they are undersized in comparison to Houston who is 300. The average height for NFL defensive ends is 6'4'' I believe. When you say undersized I think weight and height combined.
