    btw BU could have done the same thing and tried to set his value and came back to the bears but he decided to be a bitch and burn the bridge before he had any other offers

    We still need a CB for the future, this only makes this year a little easier because we do not need to force a rookie into the lineup

    I agree MD. I don't think this changes our draft plans a whole lot maybe a little but we still need to draft a cornerback early & let him learn Tillman. Somewhere between Rd 2-4. Welcome back Peanut.

    Really great to have Peanut back. Even more imparative now to get a repacement cb in the draft. And would not mind if it were in the form of a 1st rounder (if the impactful DTs are off the board). I can see Emery taking a cb in the second realistically speaking.

    why is anyone worried about Peppers in a GB uni? He was damn near usesless last year outside of like 4-5 games, and he's now a year older. Would I perferred it be elsewhere, sure, but it's hardly the sky is falling type of move for the Bears.

    Considering the absolute trash he was playing next to, is it any surprise the guy struggled? He was the only focal point for the opposition to key on last year.

    Sox, b/c he's going to be next to all world talent in GB? Clay Matthews, no Raji and who else in that front 7? It's not exactly an all world Def full of studs, while the Bears were sitting near bottom, the Packers were not far behind at 25.

    And as I pointed out in the Rivals section, instead of paying Peppers 8-10 mil, the Bears got Houston/Young for less then 8, and then added DJ and Ratliff for the same 10mil that GB just spent on an overly aged DE.

    No, but they now have one very solid piece to supplement their line and build next to knowing he will never be anything close to resembling the weak link you make it seem he Was last season.

    Sky isn't falling but if the Pack uses him right (limits his snaps in rotation) he could give them some real benefit. They do have Perry, Matthews, and Neal as well as edge rushers. I hope he does "disappear" against us like he did so much last year when he whole games without even making a single tackle. Even though they overpaid him ($8.5m) it's essentially a one year deal in guaranteed money and they can walk away with no dead cap after 2014. He's certainly not the beast he was 5 years ago but its a shrewd, calculated risk move by GB I would rather not have happened.

    That answers the questions we had about him possibly taking a big enough pay cut to make it plausible for the Bears to keep him. No way we could have paid him like that (still would have had a $17m cap hit here) so it was never a realistic possibility.

    I was hoping Pep would redo his contract for less money. This is a case where he apparently knew his value was greater than we were willling to pay. I am one of the few who wished he would stay as many seem uncomfortable facing him in GB while others seem to think he is washed up. He obviously is not as good as he was in his prime, but he is still a strength to be reckoned with
