I really liked him his draft year, and his struggles to play down on the line in the 3-4 could mean he comes in as a potential steal for our 4-3 front.

Sounds like he battled a few nagging injuries (not sure what they were) for his first couple of years and last year was his first that he played in all 16. It also sounds like the Pack made him an offer to try to keep him, so they obviously want him back. Might not be bad; he was a 2nd round pick out of Purdue. He's certainly not a Bank Breaker, but he sounds like a pretty good rotation LDE. The Pack reportedly tried to move him from DE to OLB in their 3-4. He may do better as a 4-3 DE.

Sounds like Shea and this guy were both taken by the wrong team :)

I'm willing to bet we only took Shea because Green Bay at the time had a hard on for him

I find it hard to believe that we would have passed on some of the other talented players still on the board just to spite GB. Maybe in the 4th round or later, but I think Emery just plain messed up.

4DB, he kind of sounds like a low risk, high reward type of rotational DE Emery might take a flyer on. He played pretty well last year so let's see what happens. If they do sign him that pretty much seals the fate for Wootton.

That is exactly what I was thinking, that he sounds like a Wootton. Last year Wootton was asked to play DT and DE, and it seems like this kid could do exactly the same thing.
