I'd rather have Wootton, and would probably be a cheaper option, and a better DE opposite Houston.

Ric I think we are expected to kick the tires to show interest.

Dear God, no to Allen. Wootton is the guy we need on the other side of Houston.

[IMG]After abusing Bears offensive linemen for years as a member of the Minnesota Vikings, could Jared Allen be bringing his sack dance to Chicago?

According to a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, Allen is in talks with both the Bears and Seattle Seahawks.

Allen, who will be 32-years-old when the 2014 NFL seasons begins, showed he still has plenty left in the tank. He started all 16 games with the Vikings in 2013 and registered 11.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Allen, a five-time Pro Bowler and four-time All Pro, has 128.5 sacks in 157 games over 10 seasons. In 12 career games against the Bears he has notched 15 sacks.

Despite signing Lamarr Houston earlier on Tuesday, the Bears have a need at defensive end after releasing veteran Julius Peppers.

We have 12.8 million in CAP (Not sure if we have added in Pepper's June 1 dead cap split over 2 years or if Emery will do that). That means we should be able to offer Allen a 2 year 4-5 million $ contract. Not sure if that would be enough but it would bye us time. You can even cut Bennett at 2.45 million and convert 5-6 million of Jay's 2014 salary into signing binus and you have enough for Wootton, Allen, and maybe Peanut for 2 years.

Brad Biggs is saying he's seen the tweets about this, but has never believed that the Bears are real suitors for Allen. I hope he's right.

One good thing about Allen, he plays with heart. It looks like he's playing hard on every down.

Peppers plays every down, but doesn't PLAY every down. :D

I would love to see him for a few years while they groom a drafted replacement. The guy is a true "Gamer".
