We know the Packers lost by a hair to the 49ers for the third straight time in two years. Now, how about the Bears. How would we have play against them at their stadium after two months of the O learning from Trestman.

Could we have had a close game just like the Packers did on Sunday?

How'd we do against them last year? Different system, but their offense still had their way with us

That's why I wasn't going to claim the Bears are now w/in reach of the Pack yet. Our D I think would have handled them better then GB did, but the O wouldn't have held up as well as GB did either. We don't lose by a hair to SF in SF; not sure we do in Chi either.

Cutler did not play in that game and we did not have Trestman last year.

True, but it's the same defense that we have now. They shredded it

It was Kaepernick's first game, and we had no idea what kind of player he was.

doesn't matter that you now have an idea of what kind of playmaker he is, he's a legit duel threat that can run and throw on every play; and they have a legit rb, and a legit TE, and a gaggle of okay wr's. He'll be as hard to defend as any qb in the nfl until he slows down.

I think there's a decent chance we'll find out how we match up with them - later in the post-season. We'll probably play them or Seattle for the NFC Championship :-)

SF plays at the Seahawks Sunday night. That should be one heck of a game. Playing at Seattle is brutal. One of the worst venues in the NFL for visiting teams.

Seattle's D might be the barometer for how we should look at the 49ers this season. If they go up to Seattle and stomp them, the NFC is in trouble, if they go up and play so-so, it'll remain inconclusive, but if Seattle's D runs wild on them, then we should all fear Seattle. I think Wilson and Kapernick will have their struggles at some point this season, but it's hard to think those struggles will last, given the quality of talent surrounding each player.

There is at least one game in every slot on Sunday that is good.

First off, I'm not scared of Seattle. We saw them last year. The Bears completely toyed with them for the first half, doing whatever they wanted but not putting them away, and then twiddled their thumbs the rest of the game as Seattle put together drives in the 4th and OT to come back and win it. That was a humiliating game for the Bears because they should have won by two touchdowns, but nothing from that game made me say "Wow, these Seahawks are a powerhouse."

As for the Niners, it's hard to say after one game. They're a really good team. Our defense didn't look good last week, but the sample size is small. They destroyed our D last year, but I feel that was more of an abberation considering how well the D played the whole year. *IF* our defense is close to as good as last season - absolutely, we can hang with the 49ers.

The key is going to be the Bears having the better record, so that the NFC Championship game goes through Chicago, rather than us having to play that game on the west coast.

Then it will be really exciting when we play outdoors, in New York for the Super Bowl. I'm hoping our opponent is an "old school" NFL team that plays in the north (and no dome), so it can be a classic matchup of hard core teams that still play in the cold weather. Screw those soft domer teams.

For those who want to count the days until the Bears play in the Super Bowl, it's 143 days, as of today. You can get ticket packages at THIS LINK but they're pretty pricey.

Same defense yes.......but also same idiot defensive coordinators who didn't have a clue on how to adjust a defense to what the offense was doing.

until proven otherwise, Bears at SF = road kill.
