Bottom line, a website is being held liable for what a user said. Yes the owner didn't 100% help the situation, but this is the opening of a can that could make ME liable for what people say on DaBears.com.

This is a huge can of worms, and would probably spell doom for message boards as we know them. Freedom of speech will be affected if this cheerleader has her way.

I would imagine that Richie has a few donations towards his legal fund.

And I don't see the precedent turning out in any other way than in Richie's favor.

Yeah, that's why this case is being labeled as the case that can change the internet forever.

It will make everyone worry about being held libel for what they say.

They already are liable. I've been hit with subpoenas for members one here.

This new case would make me liable. Hell no, I'm not into that! I'm sorry, but this isn't worth it. :D

I'm hoping the court rules that sites can't be held liable.

Only certain people can get away with it.

For example Spike Lee, Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton to name a few.

question, if an appeals court is hearing this case, does that mean that some court actually agreed w/the chearleader in this instance?
