I'm a little bit worried. Hope he's ok.
they said this was a scheduled day off, but who knows what the real issue is.
1) he's a #1 WR and an plays at an elite level, more often then not guys like this are diva's and want it all to be about them.
2) he's got that personality disorder and some of those traits are extreme highs or lows after what he perceives is a good or bad personal performance
3) he's got a legit injury that isn't 100% rehabb'd and the above disorder that needs work also.
4) reality is he came off petty and might well have been exused for the day
Maybe this is just one more reason to carry a 6th WR (Wilson) if in fact they were considering cutting him.
I am going with number 2. Same idea that I passed along in the other Marshall thread
Meh, we won't be worried about this in a week.
I have a feeling we'll go w/2 qb's, 6 wr's, 1 fb 2 te's 1 h-b(can play TE and fb) and 3 RB's.
Sounds about right.
Marshall, Jeffery, Bennett, Anderson, Weems, Wilson
Forte, Bush, Ford, Fiammetta
Bennett, Maneri, Adams
Im sure once the season starts, he will be good to go, both physically and mentally.
Everyone breath, the media is working overtime on getting this fire to burn they are like pig in shit right now.
Yeah. The Bears are probably giving Brandon a time out because the media is trying to get him all worked up. We knew it was just a matter of time. Must be a slow news day. It looks like Trestman may know how to manage guys like Marshall. Let's hope so.
I wonder if it could be the culmination of a number of things. Brandon is a very passionate & emotional football player. I like that about him. But he had a rough off-season with the third hip surgery that delayed him being able to work out normally. He is such a physical freak that it probably bothered him a lot to not be his usual fit self.
He also seems to be taking on a lot of responsibility as a team leader in which may be adding a lot of pressure on himself. He's certainly trying to mentor our young WR's. On top of that he is in a new offense with new coaches. I've got to believe THAT adds a level of pressure too.
Then the 3rd pre-season game (where the veterans want to really shine and strut their stuff) he has a rough (embarrassing) game dropping passes, while the young kid, Alshon Jeffry, is catching about anything thrown in his general zip code. That HAD to have been a humbling hit to Brandon's pride. Not that he doesn't want the other kids to shine, but let's face it, he ALSO wants to look good.
It's also that time of the pre-season when a lot of players have "had it" preparing and are going a bit crazy, just wanting the "real" season to begin.
You stir all of that together, and for an emotional guy, it maybe added up to a bit of a meltdown with him. I believe the fans didn't give the drops a 2nd thought because we all know the guy is a GREAT wide receiver. But that doesn't mean Marshall shakes that off though.
He probably does need a few days off to rest up emotionally more than physically. I hope (and expect) that he'll be fine. Now is a GREAT opportunity for his friend Jay Cutler to privtely reassure him that it's OK, and just forget about it all, and enjoy a great and fun year of football. Marc Trestman could privately reassure him too, and that would help. That's my 2-cents worth anyway. Maybe I'm reading too much into it though.
He'll be okay once the regular season comes around. He likely needed some time off to get his head screwed on correctly. We all know how intense he is and he likely just got frusturated.
i agree with u
As long as he didn't go all Rex Ryan I think he'll be ok.
maybe it was "planed time off"...I think the time to start worrying is if he missed games...he wasnt going to play tomorrow night anyway.
Brandon Marshall is bipolar so he suffers from extreme highs and extreme lows. He's probably very insecure so he feels he has to be a "world beater" every time he walks on a gridiron. From what I've read about Marc Trestman he should be the perfect head coach for a guy like Marshall.
WearyBear PsyD or is it PsyBS?
I too am BIPOLAR and yes I have my ups and downs...but they main problem with me is self doubt..my be he is the same and is beating himself up over dropped passes.
excellent post JABF!
I didn't know I was bipolar because my life is filled with self doubt and along with ups and downs. I was just calling it part of life but now I can say I have a disease.
I hear you my friend
