That's the way I've been sayin' it...
What kind of odds can I get? Is there an over/under? What's the spread? Damn, I got kick out of this March Madness mode soon.
Can't believe we've gotten to almost 100 posts on the signing of a FA OC. Wonder how many the Long Snapper will get?
It's not the topic it is the last 30 days before the draft. What else is there to do?
Yeah I thought of exactly that. It's so dead right now we're giving the equivalent of a 30 minute standing ovation to a backup OC. LOL
Seriously though I like the move. A month ago he was a guy I thought we might pursue because of his connection to Kromer and I was kind of surprised when we didn't. Anyway, it was a very smart move because now we have a vet on board who can take over after Garza retires and provide quality depth until then.
I am beginning to think that maybe Garza has a physical issue/issues. The current Bears organization is really good at keeping things quiet so we will only know well after the fact. It could be that everyone on the coaching staff loves De la Puente but I don't think Phil would sign a player of this ability without a good reason.
Possibly. His contract only guarantees his SB of $100k and his workout bonus of $75k if he earns that. The rest is his vet minimum base and a per game bonus and it all totals $1.5 mil.
Hoge reporting today that DLPs deal is for one dollar over vet minimum.
So, no cap break (who cares anyway, it's trivial) but does allow him to be extended or re-signed at any time. Brilliant move. Now the contract makes a LOT more sense to me.
Extremely shrewd move by the Bears once again. De La Puente is now essentially Matt Slauson 2.0 they'll sign him to a long term deal as soon as the season is over (or they can extend him mid season if they want to as well)
I'm ABSOLUTELY LOVING the Phil Emery era so far!
