How would you grade Bushrod's play?

  1. A (He's a great player)

    0 vote(s)
    0.0%
  2. B (He's a good LT and I'm glad we have him protecting our QB)

    3 vote(s)
    18.8%
  3. C (He's an average QB for a 58th ranked guy at his position....he's only the LT anyway)

    10 vote(s)
    62.5%
  4. D (maybe a decent backup next year......in the CFL or an arena league team)

    1 vote(s)
    6.3%
  5. F (we gotta get rid of him. He's a turnstile. Gonna get our QB killed)

    2 vote(s)
    12.5%

Old "Turnstile" Bushrod was rated the #58th ranked tackle in the NFL last season. Just ahead of RT Gabe Carimi who plays for Atlanta now. Bushrod had an overall PFF rating of -9.0 for the season. He gave up 31 QB hurries, 6 penalties, 9 QB hits & 5 sacks, for the season. By comparison, Gabe Carimi only gave up 4 sacks and 12 hurries.

How would you grade Bushrod's play?

Yeaaaah! I would get Wiz and Barksdale to fill positions. I'd draft a LT. Jermon Bushrod was a total mess last year

To put this into perspective, J'Marcus Webb in 2012 was rated at #50 (with a -4.6 rating). Webb's season that year was brutal and ugly, but not nearly as bad as "Turnstile" Bushrod. Between Garza, Mills & Bushrod, we're screwed.

Mills was rated the #66th ranked tackle last year. Slightly lower than a steaming pile of crap.

Garza was the best rated of the three, but was still pathetic. He gave up 11 QB hurries and was rated the 21st ranked center. Obviously he's way past his prime, but still playing MUCH better than our two tackles.

Bushrods' real name was Rod. But he got pushed around so much they called him PushRod. So what happened to change from "P" to "B"? After a while he wasn't just getting pushed around, he was getting pushed around and down and he was always ending up in the landscaping bushes way off the field. So his nickname became "PushRod's in the Bushes" and they just shortened it up to make it easier to say.

Informative. Kind of like taking a couple doses of Ipecac and then learning what it does. I no longer need Ipecac...

Our two tackles rated #58th and #66th in the NFL.
    58th and 66th
Even Garza (bad as he is) was not anything near that bad.

It's enough to have a Bears fan crying in his beer. We just keep trotting out these horrific OL's in Chicago. And we wonder why we can only score 19 points a game. We wonder why a QB can't shine here when he's surrounded by good WR's and one of the best receiving RB's in the NFL and Marty Bennett. But it's hard to shine with the 58th and 66th ranked tackles protecting your QB and run blocking for you - along with grandpappy Garza at center.

Wait is this based on PFF ratings? If so knock a solid 20 off that rating and it puts him in the 30's. PFF's OL ratings are off the wall bad. I'd sooner clean up the dogs vomit then use them as proper grading for an OL'men.

Was he bad last year, ya, so was the hole OL and so was the play calling.people have stated that the D's basically knew what was coming before it happened, and the OL had guys on the OL that shouldn't have been in the NLF, Bushrod not being one of them.

Fix the OL, but lets not create more holes then what there actually is. The team needs Slauson back, or a new RG, a new OC and a new RT..do that and Bushrod should look fine; especially with how much less the team will pass this year.

There's really not a day 1 ready left tackle in this draft in my opinion.

Yeah true, not that many versatile linemen in the draft except for Cam Erving.

I don't think he was very healthy this year. I'm going to wait and pass judgement this year If can have a healthy season. having said that that left tackle out of Texas A&M would look pretty good in Rd 2 or 3.
