It's a curse BIH.
I was thinking the same thing. If these deadbeats can victimize his pass coverage, can you imagine how GB & Rodgers will rip him? Bostic has a learning curve regarding his pass defense that will probably take this entire season to climb. Rodgers will take him apart with surgical precision.
Of the backups; Ford looked good, C J Wilson, Washington can stick as a 4th DE mainly because no one else looks like they can play. Kyle Moore can't tackle and Whiteside can rush some but can't play the run well. Minter can probably stick but the rest of that last bunch on the DLine is awful. Bostic is gonna be very good MLB once he learns pass coverage.
Yeah 99, I would have rather had Williams starting the season at MLB but it is what it is. Like Soul said once he figures it out he's going to be a stud.
Let's hope that happens sooner than later man.
I believe he will be a stud too. But I hope folks realize he will have a bit of a learning curve regarding the passing game. He is a great youngster, but clearly he is struggling a bit in the passing game defense. That will certainly come. But it will take some time for him to acquire these skills.
I noticed (I think) that we don't face the Packers until game 9 of the regular season, and that is after our bye week. I'll bet Bostic's pass defense will be much improved and pretty solid by that point of the regular season.
While I do agree that I would have rather had Williams as the starter but we do need to remember once Bostic learns pass defense he will be a stud. With that being said for a Rookie I don't think he's playing that bad. Is it great? No Could it be a lot worse? Yes.
I don't think it'll take him that long to learn pass defense, he'll get better at it every week.
Agreed. It's quite possible that Bostic, after playing for 6-8 games, might be as good or better than Williams. Who knows how long it might take but he should get better every week. But right now I'd prefer Williams. Hopefully he gets healthy soon.
