If Emery cuts out the "Dead Weight" and it gives them some wiggle room cap wise then they should be able to pick up at least one or two FA's that will make a difference for the "D". Then add the best "D" players available in the draft to round out the rebuild. At least that's how I hope it will work out.

Oh shit thanks to the Seahawks guess whos going to go apeshit drafting defense ? Everybody.

Just when we need to get quality at defense in the draft, every swingin dick team is going after what we need the most.

Geez ... if only Manning had greased Seattle 43-8, wed have our pick of the litter, but noooooooooooooooooooo !

Yer gonna see lower third round afterthoughts on defense become high second rounder must haves.

Fuck. I hope the NFL GM's can see past one game and stick to their schedule for team rebuilding,

but you know this kind of win tosses a monkey wrench in logical thinking ... its going to be a "me too" thing.

I'm just hoping for Clinton Dix or Jerrigan, that would be a fabulous place to start

You gotta be passionate about DAA BEARRSSE mshu7.
Now we have to reverse gears and think whats going on in FA and the draft,
This is where we pay Emerys paycheck ... hey he did it for OL in one year , thats a fact.

What we need now is the same applied to DL and secondary in FA and the draft.

Grizzblue is right with those picks ... but has their value gone up where they are out of reach ?

This could all settle down and be forgotten before the Ccombines at Indy.

But thats never been the way it works before.

    I

Yes, the team needs a C, possibly another T or G, a backup TE, maybe another fast WR and a longterm solution to backup qb.

I'm not too worried about this. Every year each team has to address Defense or Offense or Special Teams (or a combo of those). If you have a top 10 Defense already and a poorer Offense, I think you'll be drafting more Offense players.

Granted there is some truth to your post as there will probably be a small bump due to the "SeaHawk" effect, but even before the SuperBowl teams were figuring out what they need.

Ok gents got past the superbowl party where every other word was an f bomb from the likes of BEARS (Me) Browns,Dolphins,Tampa,Bills,Lions,Steelers,Cowboys,

and too many others to list. So.Cal. doesnt have a team ... it has all the teams ... some stuff rubs off during the game.

Phats thats what I'm hoping for ... that GM's dont go on a "me too" style and run up draft picks on defense that are not worthy therefor making it harder for us to draft.

This has happened before. The best thing is I hope they wait until the Combine and dont elevate players that are sixth rounders into the third because ,

    "we must be like Seattle."

Actually Im hoping all the GM's except Emery go that course. Stick to the plan and lets see whats in F.A.

This is a CHICAGO BEARS team ... that saw its defense disappear ... in one season. Thats never happened before.

Well, CornWash was top dog in combine last year, and we're still waiting to see on him.

Well DaveL ANY defense that we already have would be good if they showed up.

Saves us a draft pick. Hey Emery has shown to be pretty slick when it comes to OL ,

    think theres a Center in F.A. ?

That's b/c CornWash wasn't very good come actual game time. And that's what worries me about Emery; he seems more enamored w/combine guys then actual football guys. Corny has all the combine measurable's but just isn't that good of a player(yet), and might never be. Shea and Long were both drafted more b/c of their athleticism and not b/c of their game tape; it worked for Long and was a complete train wreck for Shea. I'd hope Emery can move one past just height, weight, speed, and actually try and look at what they did on the field.

With the new DL line coach coming to Chicago, hopefully he will help CornWash develop his pass rushing technique. The guy has terrific speed and strength, so technique is all he needs. I do not judge him on his 2013 performance, since he was in on only 10 plays. He didn't do anything great in those 10 plays, but the offense was not running over his ass the way they did with the rest of our DL last season. So I remain hopeful that he will show us something next year. Otherwise, I will be looking for a new Bear to adopt.

the team seems to disagree w/you David, he didn't do anything great, or even good on those 10 plays, which is why he got buried; and I agree the new coach is coming into get the young guys up to speed.
