Surprised Williams is starting over bostic after being injured.

It's suprising, but it goes along w/what was said about how Bostic was out of place in pass plays a lot in the pre season. I will be more interested come thurs or friday if it's still showing this way.

We're always at a disadvantage not having game film so Williams over Bostic is probably a good move knowing this Staff's view of fielding the best player.

Bostic is athletic enough for some highlight reels but being lost out there at times is pretty much the norm at this stage & something we wouldn't see on a bang-bang play here & there.

I'm not too surprised about Williams getting the starting nod. Bostic played like a rookie in pass pro, sometimes doing well and other times missing his assignments. He needs experience to work out the kinks in his game and Williams is there to provide a good Mike until Jon's ready.

I read the article on the Bears web site and they have this pic of Long & Mills (below). Can you believe the guns Mills has? No wonder the guy is so powerful & physical with DL guys. We have 4 of the 5 starters on that OL that are incredibly powerful. It's been years since we've seen a group like this, that can toss defenders around like rag dolls.

    lol

    Noticed that 1, JABF

Also noticed the 'power' of this OL. Even with some missed assignments, they're going to move that LOS creating a ton of cutback lanes in the run game at the least & aren't getting bull rushed in the pass.

Also can't believe I've got the opportunity to say something positive about a Bear OL before I died...

I guess I'm only slightly surprised. I think a healthy Williams is the better option, but sincehes missed most of pre season I figured bostic would start. I'd imagine bostic gets quite a bit of playing time regardless.

As much as I like the potential of Bostic, there is no way I start him in game-1 if I'm the Bears. It would be different if we didn't have a veteran stud like Williams (if Williams is truly ready to roll).

I'm all for Williams starting over Bostic if he's ready health-wise. That was always the plan, to bring Bostic along slowly mentored by a vet. I'm excited about what JB brings for the future but he's a liability right now in pass D and Cincy is going to send Gresham over the middle to test that.

    Amen...

Emery's all for getting 'playmakers' but at least we know he means for us...

I have nothing to ad, outside of the fact that Kyle Long strikes me as someone who will have his arms covered with awful, brightly-colored tatoos within a few years. Nowadays, it's rare to see a pro lineman without tats all over each arm. But whatever floats their boats, I guess.

I bet he won't for simple fact his old man can still can put a good wiping on the kid.(lol) My real reason has to do with the respect Kyle has for his father not to do something like that, just saying.
