The NFL Draft is far too big a spectacle (for them anyway) for them to entrust it to smaller markets. I mean if they're thinking of giving EACH of the first three rounds it's own night then what chance does KC or St. Louis have of hosting it. Come on man. Where's the necessary glitz and glamour in that? Does KC even have a green room? They come too far from the days of meeting in a Hupmoblile showroom in Canton, Ohio to back track now. LOL

Actually Chicago does make sense because it puts it in the central time zone so the folks in SF (who cares about LA, they don't even have a team) and Seattle won't have to take off work too early to tune in. Besides Goddell won't give Emmanuel the SB he wants so this is one way of tossing him a bone and the millions the event will attract without having to build any new infrastructure to accommodate. Sounds like a plan Stan.

Actually Chicago DOES make a lot of sense. Central location, more than enough accommodations, several places to hold the draft itself and plenty of things to do for the attendees. Actually, I think they should move the entire NFL headquarters to the Windy City.

You know what makes the most sense if it's going to be just one location? Los Angeles.

Sure Goodell has an eye on Europe, but his more immediate goal relies on getting a team in LA. Plus, there is no shortage of media already in place (can't you imagine the TMZish following around of Green Room players pre-draft?).

But what makes the most sense of all is that the draft becomes a road show with bidding a la the Superbowl.

Greed is the NFL God so I'm sure that's how it will end up although I can easily see Goddell tossing it to Emmanuel for 2015 just to get him off the "give us a Super Bowl" kick.

I understand the media coverage thing in LA but with everything else happening there wouldn't the NFL Draft be somewhat anticlimactic? That town is so inundated with entertainment events that I wonder if the public would even care compared to how much hungrier Chicago fans would be for it.

I guess I'm one of those who believe that the NFL will continue to struggle with having a successful franchise in LA no matter what they do. There are just too many other things pulling attention and entertainment dollars away. How long has it been since the Rams moved and I don't hear anyone in LA ever complaining they have no NFL team? They seem to be ambivalent at best.

Anywhere but the East coast Chicago sounds good to me. How about during the combine like a fashion show the teams and TV could pound the flesh of players. Deals would be going on screw ups would be made even faster by guys like Jerry Jones. It would be mad chaos and it would make great TV entertainment.

Any business that doesn't constantly evaluate it's business model and try to maximize profits is destined for the trash heap. That doesn't mean it sacrifices everything for profit, but in business (as in our personal lives), leaving money on the table is a fools practice.

I've long been a believer in not leaving money on the table but I never reached into a clients pockets for what wasn't on the table. :lol 027:

How about they change the Combine into a show like Survivor where players get voted out of town? LOL

If the Draft is held in Chicago I would make the hike (ok, plane ride!) from Maryland to the Windy City.

Wouldn't work. Webb would get hungry and eat him.

Well if the draft is going to travel, the combine should travel as well. Why should Indy always get to host it?

I could interpret that in many ways... And as usual, choose to pick the most twisted way possible, LOL
