Agreed. I do think we'll see Lovie somewhere as a DC or a LB Coach but he won't be a Head Coach anytime soon, IMO.

I agree, but it's not like he hated offense. I'm sure he would love to have Peyton Manning on his team, with an offense putting up 35 a game. But that just wasn't what he knew. He was very hands-off with the offense. However, he could (potentially) hire a legitimate offensive coordinator year one at his next job, instead of Terry Shea. If Lovie hired someone worth their salt and then got out of the way for them, he could potentially succeed. My point was more that the Martz/Tice years weren't completely on Lovie just for the fact that no decent offensive minds wanted to jump onto what was seen as a sinking ship. A fresh start with three years worth of job security might due the trick.

He had the option to hire Trestman, and a few others, and whiffed w/Shea. Then whiffed again w/Turner the next year.

The defense not looking so sharp is more due to Melton, DJ Williams, Peppers missing all the preseason games. Add in Tillman having to play arguably the best WR in the league while taking IV fluids from being sick, and yeah, the D did not look so sharp coming out of week one. I think as the season goes on, they will look very good.

Calvin Johnson got traded to Cinci??? When?

And Tillman has never been that good at coverage. He gets burned frequently. However, once the player has the ball and he is close he can punch it out better than anyone

I think Green well could make a case for being in the argument Benj, don't know that he's there yet, but he's definately making a case for himself.
Tillman get burned on a few plays, but against the best that's going to happen, but he's also held HoF'rs to career lows while covering them.

    A. J. is arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL. Yes, Calvin Johnson will come up in that argument, but if I were picking wide receivers, I would take A.J over Megatron.

All corners get burned. Tillman is our best corner, and the only one that is capable of handling a guy like Green.

No doubt, Green is a great WR, they may be 1 and 1a... But I'd take CJ.

And yes, Tillman is our best CB. But that doesn't change that he tends to get burned more than we'd like. Likely has to do with always going against that teams best WR which makes his actual coverage look worse than it is, but his ball punching makes him look better than he is as well.

True, but if he were healthy, and those other guys were not so rusty, that D would have looked a lot better with some pass rush and Tillman not looking so winded out there. All I'm saying.

Agreed. Don't get me wrong, Tillman is the best all around CB on the team, maybe too 5 in the NFL.

maybe too 5 in the NFL? I'm confused....

Tillman is fine, I'm actually kinda worried hearing he hurt his knee though; luckily the Vike's really don't have a WR worth worrying about, or a qb that could get them the ball if they did.

As an overall CB yes, mainly because once the WR has the ball, he is great at stopping them. But keeping them from getting the ball isn't his forte. He gets burned a lot by the great WR
