Not that Claussen is that great a QB, but he has shown that he should be #2 over Palmer - in my mind anyway (I'm thinking Palmer doesn't even make the team). Claussen showed poise in the pocket and made some good judgments to throw the ball away. Good enough for #2 with the candidates we have.
that's an easy choise, good for the team.
And yet, a choice Lovie probably would have struggled to make until Week 10 of the season.
I agree (about Clausen) for now, but I think Trestman's approach is the intelligent approach; switch them back and forth and don't make any final decision until after the 3rd PS game. If they had to make the call today, I'm confident it would be Clausen, but we haven't seen him against anything other than 3rd and 4th stringers yet. Give him the same competition that Palmer faced first, and even that isn't all that fair as I'm pretty confident the Eagles second teamers were better than what Clausen will see from from the Jags.
Lets use up as much evaluation time as we can get before making a final decision.
It will be interesting to see how Palmer performs with the 3rd string offense against the Jags 3rd string D. He may do very well as the quality of the defensive backfield may be very low (which probably helped Clausen in last week's game).
I hope we get to see both Palmer and Clausen with the 1st Offense (and against the 1st Defense).
Lovie needs his naps. He can't be bothered with decisions right now. Besides there is lots of football left to play and he can always make the decision when the sun comes up tomorrow.
It sounds like he's built another doozer of an OL in Tampa. The QB's down there will be like roadkill by the 4th game of the season. Only Lovie could build these type OL's. I tell 'ya it's a gift he has. I'll bet he's explaining to the Tampa fans about how the Defense is supposed to do the scoring anyway.
Those poor Tampa fans.
The beauty about Lovie is that so far he has always come in to replace someone worse. So he looks great at the beginning. And he will have success....
He is the ultimate sleeper (LOL!)... You really don't get he is bad until the third or fourth year... and even then you have your doubts.... until you get someone that truly knows what they are doing.
Those fans are in for a fun ride, LOL
What he needs to do is bring Webb in to help. He can explain how he has the perfect measurables and even tell fans how big his feet are. Then Webb can give his patented grin...
No I was told by Lovie it takes years for O-line to jell before you can really evaluate the line. Give him 4 more years they'll be perfect. "The wheels on the bus go round and round...round and round.." That's what you get from Lovie enjoy Tampa he did go to the SB.
