..and he would need to do better against the same or better competition. Flashing on a couple of plays against the 3's and 4's isn't going to cut the mustard.

Right. There were some series where he and Bass were on the field at the same time. That's the only way to get a fair comparison.

CornWash will likely be playing for another team next year or pushing carts at Marianos

no snap counts on the 3rd and 4th guys, but both were out there, at the end of the day these are guys that will likely only make the team b/c of their ST play, not their D capabilities anyways so none of it really matters to be honest.

I don't see Lane beating out Bass for a spot. Bass is the only guy on the team that had a sack against the Eagles.

hope you're right dabears70. I like Bass, liked him last year when I saw him play, but he seems buried on the depth chart right now.

I disagree. First, it is always important to develop your young players even though we all know they are not likely to get a lot of quality playing time in 2014.

Second, I might be wrong. If we get another wave of injuries on the DL as we had last year, we may have to depend more on these back-up guys than anybody would want.

His point was seeing these guys look like studs off of players likely to be cut because they are not NFL quality is meaningless.

Just because you can dominate a player who might be baying groceries in a few weeks does not mean you should be playing NFL football

That's all true but irrelevant to my two points: (1) we need to develop young players for the future, and (2) With a wave of injuries, we might need them sooner than planned.

By the time NFL teams get down to their 53-man rosters, most of the guys who should be baying groceries will be gone. Maybe CornWash will be among them, but he still has 3 more preseason games to prove you wrong.

    I wait with baited breath....

Does the phrase looks like Tarzan plays like Jane mean anything to you?
