Addressing the guys hovering over the second level is as important as the guys creating pressure. Everyone says "it all starts up front in the trenches," but the fact is, both ends make each others jobs easier when you know you have quality, consistency and reliability to set you up or have your back. You absolutely HAVE to get the biggest impact player possible in the first, no way around that. I'll leave it up to our scouting staff when it comes to picking the right guy, even if our new department has been thoroughly unimpressive scouting D in two drafts.

My hope is that Emery takes Pryor with the 14 pick.

My guess is that the Bears want to imitate the Seahawks defense with multiple different looks and constant changes throughout the course of a game.

A BIG, strong, physical safety like Pryor who can challenge running backs and tight ends the same way Kam Chancellor does for Seattle is just what this Bears defense needs. Buccanon and Ward would be really nice pickups in the 2nd round but one is clearly a tier below Pryor and the other is just too small to play an effective safety in the NFL.

I just want to see us draft a credible DEFENSE ... and keep on picking up other DEFENSE in F.A.

YOUR CHICAGO BEARS have TANKED at DEFENSE last year.

If HALAS HALL has got its shit wired ...

they can do to DEFENSE what they did to OFFENSE in 2013.

    2014 ...

Agree with what you say, as Emery has proven if a position group is BAD, he will throw enough resources at it to make them, at the least, competitive. Honestly, we don't even need home runs at every position, because the offense showed last year that they were able to win without any ST/D support.

Just getting players that can prevent 150+ yard games will be sufficient enough. His signing of Houston seems to be the FA half of addressing that. In the draft, I'm sure we will get at least another player whose strength is in stopping the run.

Random point: we DO need Emery to build a D capable of winning the division, because WC is a more crowded field

You hit the nail on the head because both Wright and Conte were at best average even before last year but having a much better defense made them look better then they really were.

I like Pryor but i think we need a FS over a SS and HaHa is a better FS and Pryor is better at SS but i like both.

DaB. Dix might be the better FS, but Pryor can play both and do well.
