The things people do to justify their research funding. No wonder Universities are so expensive these days.

They can't even say if it's due to less crime or less reporting of crime.

The way the defense played last year was a crime. I would have thought it went up.

Yes, and pizza and beer sales are probably up. How much did THIS study cost just to inform us of the a logical conclusion we could have probably drawn ourselves?

No clue, but thats the entire point of studies...to find out if presuppositions are supported by the evidence or not. In this case, it was an off-hand remark by Ray Lewis that sparked the idea for the study.

I know brother but certain things are usually supported by pure common sense and logic. The report supposedly quantifies it but does it really? I guess since we don't have all of the data and assumptions used in the analysis we don't truly know if that statement is true on it's face value alone. It may or may not prove Lewis's point but I'm certain somebody got paid a lot of money to produce it.

It was done by students at Berkeley, which has a pretty huge endowment to begin with ($3.3 Billion)

Well I guess now that the era of peace protests at UC-Berkely is over they need to find something socially relevant to do. At Standford they would have analyzed how much pizza and beer sales increased.
